Fulmer statement on Warlick

What's he supposed to say with the LVs being on the bubble? "Yah Holly is doing a terrible job and I'm firing her after the season."

Not gonna happen. Pretty sure every AD ever has given a coach his full vote of confidence right before he fired them. This isn't an issue until the girls are officially elimated, either by non-selection or tourney loss. If he's still saying this a week or two after that, then that is the time to be concerned. Only thing that could save her job, in my opinion, is a Final Four appearance.

"Our Lady Vols basketball team is a much younger squad. They’ve battled back recently from some adversity early in the SEC play, but progress is evident — a recent road win at Missouri was a great example of impressive execution on both ends of the floor in crunch time. They’ve won five of their last seven games, and I expect Coach Warlick’s team to continue to grow and gain confidence as we march toward the postseason."

Sounds like a vote of confidence to me.

"Final Four appearance" there are better odds that Rosie O'Donnell will be crowned Miss Universe.
I wouldn't bet a nickel that a Warlick-coached team could beat some midget league all-stars.

Several others have already said this better, but the fact remains that 7th-year coaches don't need a late-season "vote of confidence" unless there are lots of obvious program shortcomings that are causing an ever-increasing lack of confidence.

I am usually a voice of reason when it comes to matters such as these but it is evident to anyone w eyes that it is past time to make a change. Sooner the better, confidence must be restored before we lose star current players and any future high level recruits.
I know many of u could care less about the Lady Vols but when I think about Candace Parker, Catchings, Holdsclaw and many others this just can not stand.
A top notch coach could turn this around almost immediately and this is what we fans and most of all the players deserve.
Anytime a coach admits she's at a. Loss of wha t to do change must be made. Right now is not too soon either, to wait till season's end may be too late. I can just imagine how many transfers out are probably on the way.. Sorry but just had to rant a little about this untenable situation..

I have the solution.

Hire Donnie Tyndall to be the x&O coach, Coach J to be master motivator and skills coach Keep Coach reaves to recruit and Tyler Summitt to be bed check monitor and pat's legacy link.

Go LADY VOLS!

Sounds like a prepared political statement that affords him the ability to change direction at the end of the year if he wishes.

On the bright side, a public vote of confidence from his/her AD is often the death knell for any coach on the hot seat.

We should also think about what CHW's lack of skill is doing/has done to the young women who have come through the program these last 7 years, some of whom might have developed into viable WBBNBA players.

Fulmer making it easier for her to say goodbye instead of us saying goodbye. That's the conversation going on behind the scenes.

I think there are two problems here. NOONE will ever be another Pat Summit. Expectations seem to say we should just keep going just as the past has been but Holly is not Pat. Frankly, no one is Pat and the comparisons need to stop. Holly put herself in this impossible position because she LOVES Tennessee. She knew what would be said and yet she has persevered. I respect her for that. What does anyone think is going to happen to Connecticut when Geno retires????

That paragraph was taken from a State of the AD letter where Fulmer addressed all UT sports programs and was complimentary of every one of them. It's a PR piece, and those always provide the most positive spin. This one was a general letter to fans, but UT periodically sends them to donors to make sure everybody feels good about the university. It's PR-speak-- nothing more.

At this point I no longer watch so I have more free time. So if they keep her around I will have more time for other things worth doing/watching. I can no longer watch the brand of basketball Holly coaches.

Pat would not be happy and if she was AD she would have stepped in and made a change already it's hard to watch.CHW is clueless it's obvious just watching her on the sidelines as good coaches communicate with their players more effectively and make adjustments as the game progresses. She never stops the bleeding before it's to late and our girls have turned the ball over way to much for years.

Sounds like fodder for the "press" to me.
Would have sounded a little more realistic to have said "well they are still up and down, but seem to be a little better on some occasions, we will see".

Don’t misunderstand. I’m for firing Holley but the criticisms of Fulmer are insulting. The man has given his entire life to UT, while some fans that have given nothing throw out the ugliest comments. It’s what I described whether you want to acknowledge it or not.
You mean the part where he arrogantly ran the football program in the ground and then collected millions of dollars?
