Fulmer is proud of the University

Didn’t CPF hint around that it was actually up to Haslam or that Haslam had the final word to Hamilton firing him?

Hamilton went to Haslam asking if he could fire Fulmer. Haslam wasn't 100% on board but relented and left it up to Mike. Told him just don't screw it up. But it was and is why Hamilton left in 2011.

Cutcliffe recruited and developed every great QB under Fulmer. Let's not re-write history. Fulmer was smart enough to stay out of Cut's way, but his general ineffectiveness was shown once Cut left.

Amen,

He was paid a hefty salary for the time he 'devoted to' Tennessee. It's called a job, and he was paid more money than most people ever make. I'd say he and the university are square.
He should reimburse the university for that AD job he did.

I’m not arguing the university should pay him any money. I’m arguing fans who hate him sound foolish at best.

I don't know fans that hate him, I know several that don't worship him like some do. He wasn't much without Cutcliffe and sucked as AD. He was also a back stabber. Spurrier owned him and several wins against bama was against bad coaches and teams

You most definitely hate him, no surprise. His winning percentage without Cutcliffe is higher than Johnny Majors’ winning percentage. Also it’s just weird to throw out everything someone did because they had a good OC. He was worse than Spurrier but better than anyone else in the SEC until Saban arrived. Won a national championship, went on a 45-5 run, etc, but you are complaining about Alabama not being dominant enough to consider him Fulmer any good.

You are a little dim, buddy.

What a relief that the guy who quietly negotiated a 2-year extension as AD during a global pandemic, all the while pushing for the athletic department employees to take pay cuts AND asking fans to step up, approves the way "we as a university" handled the Nico situation. The ink on his extension wasn't even dry when Fulmer resigned, took his bag, and gifted Kevin Steele close to $1 million for a couple of weeks work as interim. He should be embarrassed to comment on anything, other than his coaching career, and leave the athletic department to Danny White.

Let’s say he takes your advice. If someone asks him to comment on the situation and he responds, “no comment,” how do you think that comes off? You’d be pissed that he threw Heupel under the bus.

Aside from the 152 wins he had, there is no winning for Fulmer with some. The guy devoted most of a 50 year chunk of his life to the program and delivered the only national championship you will ever see. I think he earned the right to comment if asked a question about it.
Agreed.

He has given more of himself to UT than almost anyome. The ones who should quit talking are the message board gurus.

You are wrong as always, I don't hate him. I just don't worship him as some do.

Personally I enjoyed the Fulmer years and winning a NC. He had good recruiting years, and we were always in the talk about possibly winning a NC. The program was elevated during his tenure so I can't see the need to bash the guy.

I don't have much need for him
He was an absolute stud as coach his first 6 years, mainly because he was a top shelf recruiter. It's certainly reasonable to be critical of his last few years as HC and even more so as AD as a long time fan

For sure he's a great guy and loves UT. For the most part, he's kept a low profile since being removed as AD. There's a lot of nuance as to his role at UT now. Some people have no use for nuance because their reasoning is binary. See @LegionnaireOfTheMiserable

Legend has it that Fulmer told the brass at UT in 1992 that he would win a Natty running only 8 different plays. He backed it up. It's sort of amazing how some of the same plays work in various formations. Walt Harris designed it. Fulmer ran with it in 1989 when he became OC.
