Freeze, Forgiveness, Redemption, ect ...

So are you serious that you expect only "marginal" improvements or are you just stirring the pot?

I think if, and its a big if, Freeze was hired, we would see some improvement. But nowhere near the amount that some think. Freeze isnt going to turn this offense into a lethal machine in one year. But I guess expecting him to is what we should do because we are TN right?

I can't speak for anyone else but to pretend an offense can't be turned around by a guy proven to be able to do it in the SEC is ignoring what happened in that far away season of 2018 in Gainesville.

I will say this though; If Freeze is hired and he has to deal with "meddlers" then it is entirely possible that the improvements would be marginal. Maybe that is why TOF made that statement.

There is evidence that sometimes when a certain ex-coach "helped" our Offensive Coordinator things went to hell in a handbasket. Sanders, Clawson, Helton... I'll say no more.

Lol. Trying to compare a proven HC hire to an OC hire? Yeah that seems legit. Also, regardless if you or anyone else wants to admit it, UF is much more talented than TN.

And regardless if you or anyone else wants to admit it, UF is much better coached than TN.

If HF is left to his own devices to run the offense his way it would be very much like a HC getting to run the offense his way. Except maybe in your world where that reality ruins your well thought out points. In that world they are to very different things.

Completely agree about UF being better coached. I certainly expected UF to be better coached this year. Who didnt? It really doesnt matter about Freeze. He isnt coming here anyway.

I say screw it... run a couple of hookers past him, if be doesn't blink, hire the man.

Who has never done anything in their life that they may have regretted, we are not trying to hire a preacher, we are looking for a coach?

The last couple of years has pretty conclusively proven that morality issues should have no role whatsoever in these hires because there is no consistent position. The frank reality is that if Schiano had won two super bowls and four national titles he would be the coach at Tennessee and folks would be advancing the redemption and second chance mantra. But he didn't. Freeze had a lot of success and so he's going to get a pass from the fan base.

I'm not knocking it. The reality is that in college athletics people want to win, and they are willing to forgive transgressions by players and coaches so long as that goal is met. ESPN's 30 for 30 last night on Bobby Knight was a pretty good example. Indiana was more than willing to overlook Knight's conduct so long as he won. And even after film came out of him grabbing a player by the throat, the fans wanted to kill the player. It is what it is and it's pointless to advance a position of forgiveness and redemption when those positions are selectively given based on winning percentages.

This discussion is moot. Saban wants him bad. Freeze is Bama OC next year and they hang 50 on us again. We'll promote Friend to OC and average 11 points a game. Just accept reality and become a basketball fan. It's much easier. Lol

Hmmm so if you read my poat carefully, I said turn our offense lethal. That would mean a top tier offense in the SEC. so is that what you would expect if Freeze were to be the OC?
