Freak just put up

Do you think it is possible Pruitt is just listening either to Chaney or Weinke when it comes to which QB they are trusting and want in the game? Then after the game Pruitt is just taking the heat for what his other coaches think is best? I just for the life of me cannot figure out why they won't give JT a chance. Sure he made a bad play but JG makes them all the time and gets to stay in after he has been starting for three years. I just don't get it.
Highly doubt that. I think if it were up to Chaney, JT wouldve rolled in this game. I think he prefers Maurer (he's more his proto-type), but his concussions are a concern. Pruitt is a defensive minded coach and I think he wanted to play it safe this game. He had the defense ready to win it. I think that's why we ran it so much. JG playing is a head-scratcher with his injury, but I ultimately think Pruitt knew we could win it conservatively on offense with a dominate defense.

That's what gets me. Tonight to me he tried to make JG the hero. I saw Pruitt on the sideline and if I read his lips properly he said "take him out" on that second series.
He can barely said anything good at all about JT or Maurer. I can hardly see any encouragement from Pruitt about JT or Maurer at all. Pruitt needs to come out of the darkness and into the light.
If he keeps treating his coaches on the sidelines and players when they come off the field as badly as he does sometimes it will grow old pretty soon. We'll know more when the season ends. Pruitt actions looks like he would be a hard man to work for. Season end will be telling.
What?? He praised Maurer for his play against Bama and GA. Did you not watch his Monday press conferences after those games?

Need to play to learn and tonight would have been a good time to learn. I have my doubts about how Pruitt arrives at his conclusions. Like I said sometimes he just pulls stuff out of thin air. Maybe he should try listening to his coaches who know the offense. Pruitt's should have a little compassion since his struggling with managing the game may be worse that Shrouts. Pruitt has not excuse because he has been at it longer than JT and seems lost in space at times. So if Pruitt blames himself and says he needs to do better then he should treat JT the same way he wants to be treated. Tonight wasn't that night.
Pruitt dogmatically believes that JG's practice performance MUST translate to the field. He may have been wavering a few weeks ago then USCe convinced him that everything was "right". It isn't.

He did say something in his press conference about them still evaluating where Maurer "is". Whatever his injury is... it may still be bothering him.

There is a reasonable possibility that he's never had a concussion but had some other head or neck injury. The initial injury wasn't something that would typically cause a concussion. His head didn't slam against the turf. His neck and back were contorted in an awkward way. The next week's aggravation wasn't a violent collision.

If it is a concussion... it is one, not multiple.

We don't know what the coaches are saying in his ear though, it's likely they all want JG, I agree this is the game for shrout to learn in especially with a JG injury Shrout may be forced into a game anyway, but what if some of shrouts issues are playbook related? In game experience doesn't necessarily improve that.

you're all wrong. this is about recruiting bailey and the qb position. this is about bailey coming in and the competition for the position appearing to be open. its a win, win, win for pruitt and co.

win and become bowl eligible with playing multiple qbs meaning the job is still up for grabs going into the offseason

fans happy
bailey stays committed
other commits follow

Really starting to wonder about Pruitt, I don't like his abusive behavior to players coming off the field. That verbal abuse is not a way that a head coach develops players. His decision to pull Shrout after one mistake is BS and looks like a knee jerk response and does nothing to instill any confidence in the QB. I just can't stand watching JG, he has more than enough chances and he still is just terrible, just makes throws that look like he and the receiver are not on the same page, and he has been doing this for 3 years.

Strout should have been given more play time period, but to pull him and do his public humiliation scolding on a Freshman qb is really bad and speaks poorly of the head coach and quite frankly, Harrison Bailey our top QB commit may just say, you know what I don't think I want to be pulled and yelled at everytime I make a mistake.

AD Coach Fulmer needs to have a talk with Pruitt about his decision making and abusive behavior.

To me it's obvious that the plan was to play pull JT and put JG in anyways unless JT scored a TD. I think they like JG coming off the bench more than just starting. Which he does seem to play better. But to me it was clear JG wasn't playing too great, so I thought Shrout shoulda got more time. But it all worked out. JG played well enough to win.

I hear Mauer has had multiple concussions dating back to High School. Can anyone verify this?

If this is true- he's toast. They're cumulative and easier to get the more you have. That explains why a gust of wind knocks him out of games. Sucks though. He's my favorite atm, but for his health's sake he should probably retire (if that's the case.)

The only thing that I can think of for JG to play is...and I say this with all due respect (it will still sound awful...) he's more disposable? He's not going to the NFL. He's slow and low football IQ. Maurer's brain is swiss cheese due to concussions, Shrout is learning and probably the safety net for the future. JG...well...we can kinda spare him to injury and what not. He can manage a game just fine. It's a safe game, and he can do what you mentioned- hang it on the Defense.

The announcer interviewed coach JP before the game. When asked about the QB situation JP said JG is our best qb hands down and it's not even close. I believe him if for no other reason because he knows the play book. I can't wait for BM to come back because of his up side and explosive plays but even when he comes back JG will still get playing time due to situations that require certain plays.

Threw the pass across his body. JG throws an interception in the end zone but makes an excuse for him

He also pulled JG after the INT. It's not like he hasn't been consistent.

I think the coaches are being tough on Shrout because his history with errant passes. It's tough love to try to get his INT problem under control, because they know if he can fix that, he's an NFL-caliber QB. And that was an absolutely terrible decision by Shrout; this is his biggest problem is that he tries to force plays that aren't there.

Pruitt / Chaney made the right decision. We didn't need a high-scoring gunslinger to win this game; not with the way the defense was playing. Not turning the ball over was priority #1.

As much as people want to complain about JG struggling with the mental side of the game, Shrout has struggled with that even more. Yes, he's been able to deliver beautiful deep passes when he's had no pressure on him and had open guys. It's when he's had pressure or no open receivers that he's made more questionable decisions, but I'm hoping the tough love by the coaches pays off.

Not going to get in the back and forth of who should be playing QB which dominates most team discussions by fans at every level BUT I do understand the points on both sides. However TO ME Shrout made a couple of throws into double coverage that just can not be made at any level by the QB and expect to win....EVER! If UAB had been a little more athletic then at least 2 would have been intercepted. The one point I agree with...JG really seemed injured to the point it was definitely affecting his play. That’s the only reason I see for playing Shrout over JG. But I’m not in the team meetings much less the QB room so at this point I’ll trust our stellar coaching staff.
