the UAB game and I got to watch the first series that ESPNU did not show.
Pulling JT after that series was ATROCIOUS.
That was so unfair to that kid it speaks volumes.
The kid played well enough last week and deserves way more respect than that imo.
Again this is HOGWASH and his excuse for pulling him was a bunch of HOGWASH

Do you think it is possible Pruitt is just listening either to Chaney or Weinke when it comes to which QB they are trusting and want in the game? Then after the game Pruitt is just taking the heat for what his other coaches think is best? I just for the life of me cannot figure out why they won't give JT a chance. Sure he made a bad play but JG makes them all the time and gets to stay in after he has been starting for three years. I just don't get it.

That's what gets me. Tonight to me he tried to make JG the hero. I saw Pruitt on the sideline and if I read his lips properly he said "take him out" on that second series.
He can barely said anything good at all about JT or Maurer. I can hardly see any encouragement from Pruitt about JT or Maurer at all. Pruitt needs to come out of the darkness and into the light.
If he keeps treating his coaches on the sidelines and players when they come off the field as badly as he does sometimes it will grow old pretty soon. We'll know more when the season ends. Pruitt actions looks like he would be a hard man to work for. Season end will be telling.

No need to say anything good about Maurer right now. He is out until further notice. As to Shrout, I am just as taken aback as you. However, I am not on the sidelines, and deaf people I know can tell you I suck at lip reading. But if there is something Shrout did that bothered him, I can see him going with the more experienced guy. Unfortunately, Guarantano was hurting. He took a good jarring when Morris goofed up on that sack play. And I could tell he was hurting more through to halftime. As to the rest of your conclusions, I've seen worse. Under the circumstances, I would have kept Shrout in, and let Jennings run a series of wildcat if he needed to come out to talk to Weinke. But that's me. Another thing that is me is I don't try to psychoanalyze every last moment on the sidelines. If I did, I might end up blocking streets, carrying a picket sign and protesting every last time another idiot called for it. Life is too damn short for that crap.

Supposedly Shrout is still struggling with management of the O.

JG's play vs UAB won't beat a good team. Late. Short. He's still too risk averse and SLOOOOOWWW delivering the ball.
Need to play to learn and tonight would have been a good time to learn. I have my doubts about how Pruitt arrives at his conclusions. Like I said sometimes he just pulls stuff out of thin air. Maybe he should try listening to his coaches who know the offense. Pruitt's should have a little compassion since his struggling with managing the game may be worse that Shrouts. Pruitt has not excuse because he has been at it longer than JT and seems lost in space at times. So if Pruitt blames himself and says he needs to do better then he should treat JT the same way he wants to be treated. Tonight wasn't that night.

Well if you rewatch the first drive Wienke tells Shrout, “You don’t make that throw, ever, ever.” I am sure some other things were said as well.

At this point, I'd say flip a coin to see who plays. Both JG and Shrout are equally inconsistent. I honestly look for JJ to start throwing some out of the wildcat formation. Quick toss to the TE, something like that.
I was hoping the same. Why would Pruitt use JJ so much when JT was in but only once or twice when JG was in. He could have given JT more chances last week instead of taking downs away from him which would have given him more pass attempts. Just wondering. No, not really because we all know the answer already.

It’s almost like Pruitt decided he didn’t want to lose bc of dumb decisions out of the QB position.
Ok, then why'd he start short in the first place? He's a freshman, he's gonna make mistakes. Pulling him after one mistake (a mistake that JG makes all the time) is not how to go about that.

He pulled him because of a throw no QB should ever make no matter how strong their arm is. It wasn’t a mistake it was doing something that every QB coach tells you not to do. He was running the opposite direction of what he threw.

That being said I think you give him a pass on the first series give him a 2nd series and see if he fixed what you got on to him for. He should have played more.

JT needs the live fire experience, and it's lower risk in a game we've got under control. He also doesn't need to be trained to be looking over his shoulder for the hook every play; that's not going to build confidence. JG didn't need to risk that bad hand.

No play no learn from your mistakes. Leave the kid in and give him some plays to up his confidence. Jerk the kid around. Pruitt made a horrible mistake playing JG tonight. Leaving him in for injury. You did see him holding his hand or wrist didn't you. He was also holding it up on the side lines. How about JG interception in the end zone why not pull him for the game. At least JT's wasn't intercepted. It was a very very poor throw for a QB who is in his 3rd year starting. Pruitt is not helping his situation any imo.

I believe Shrout should of got more playing time. However, bashing Pruitt for making a decision that led to a Win is a little ridiculous.
