Freak just put up

That's what gets me. Tonight to me he tried to make JG the hero. I saw Pruitt on the sideline and if I read his lips properly he said "take him out" on that second series.
He can barely said anything good at all about JT or Maurer. I can hardly see any encouragement from Pruitt about JT or Maurer at all. Pruitt needs to come out of the darkness and into the light.
If he keeps treating his coaches on the sidelines and players when they come off the field as badly as he does sometimes it will grow old pretty soon. We'll know more when the season ends. Pruitt actions looks like he would be a hard man to work for. Season end will be telling.
What a crock. I just don't understand how some posters have to dig to find something negative to post. Here we have a team which we were favored to win by 14 points. We have one QB who is still not physically ready to play and one who has a broken hand and one who has played a half of football at the college level. The defense is playing their best game of the season. We will win the game playing players who have not seen the fiel before last night's game. We need to see how well JG handles the situation with playing with a cast on his left hand. just in case he ha to play in the next game against a team who has been ranked higher than us the entire year.

We learned a couple of thing from playing JG as much as he did. They may have to design a different cast for his hand. He still is throwing the ball into double/triple coverage which we could survive against UAB. JT still needs more coaching to play SEC games when needed. Maurer may not be ready to play for another two weeks. I would rather JG throw an interception against UAB than Kentucky. Tennessee beat the spread so no one lost money unless they bet against Tennessee and if they did, they should have lost money. Why not enjoy the victory for the Home Coming game where a Tennessee player tied the alltime record for interceptions in a game, a Tennessee player kicked the longest field goal in his career at Tennessee, football players on th, Tennessee football team played in their first game. almost every player on the squad played in the game, and the defense played its best game since Pruitt has been our head coach. That was a defensive unit which was extremely young and inexperidenced and has made unbelievable progress since the opening game this year. Time for fans the reevaluate their attitude and appreciate where this team, including the coaches, have come since opening day and give some credit to them instead of looking for only the negative stuff to criticize a fine effort by our football team.

Count your lucky stars JG wasn't injured and out for the rest of the season after taking those hits last night. He was holding his wrist and he was holding his hand up on the sidelines last night. Probably to prevent swelling or more swelling than what was occurring.
And don't even think of saying JG is tough. Toughness didn't prevent him from being injured in the SC game. Had he gotten injured last night it could have ended his season and the Vols hopes. I never even addressed the D unit so carry on.

JG was at no greater risk for injury than any other player on the field.

Supposedly Shrout is still struggling with management of the O.

JG's play vs UAB won't beat a good team. Late. Short. He's still too risk averse and SLOOOOOWWW delivering the ball.
That is what I have heard as well. Shrout has an arm, but not a good grasp of the offense and how to read the defense yet. So, while his arm talent is off the chart, he limits the play calling and can’t make right adjustments/reads.

We won, bottom line. Our online was atrocious. Mauer will be back this week, and JG will be in the bullpen. JG did what he does, but the kid gives his all for UT, like him or not.
I believe Shrout should of got more playing time. However, bashing Pruitt for making a decision that led to a Win is a little ridiculous.

...and JG can? For a seasoned veteran, that was a pretty good adjustment JG had at the goal line during the Bama game. It has been noted that JG has continually taken the offense out of plays that were called by Chaney. Also, didn't Pruitt himself state that the only way to get these young guys up to speed is by playing them? Kinda hypocritical of him don't you think? UAB was the perfect game to give the younger QB game-time experience, not one or two series because our defense was playing lights out. I know we are all saying the same thing but Pruitt's words are aligning with his actions and at times his actions are perplexing. If this is a three to four-year turn around than you can't hinge it on a QB that has played subpar and still has one year of eligibility.

And no one on this board knows what the staffs plans are. So my point is no need in having a meltdown and bitchin about a WIN. Like I tell my kids, don't worry until you have a reason to worry. And there is no need to worry and nothing to worry about after a WIN!!!!!! Enjoy the win brothers and sisters and we can bitch n moan and have a meltdown next week or week after or sometime later.
I believe you can enjoy win and still have reasons for concerns. I would certainly hope our players and coaches would not accept a one-point win over Chattanooga for example and then say everything's fine let's enjoy this and not fix the things that would result in losses down the road. It's never good just to rest on your laurels or be satisfied. Always strive for perfection

LOL he was already injured to begin the game. He was getting hit hard. Getting creamed. When you fall to the ground you use your hands to brace your fall. Plus the weight of the defender on you. O line was playing rather poorly. Morris was getting beat repeatedly. Where you even watching the game. JG was at a lot of risk of being injured worse and missing the rest of the season. I guess you think Pruitt was trying to protect JG too.

Almost think JG is being somewhat punished in not being the starter the last couple of games but the coaches still see him as the best option so they send him out for most of the game.

His left wrist was more protected than any other player on the field....it’s football injuries happen..... he was not at greater risk than anyone else

Why does everyone assume that Shrout was pulled and that it was not in the plan all along to have him take the first series and then JG take over? My opinion (... and I know nothing nor have nothing to base this on ....) is that starting Shrout and then letting JG come in is serving two purposes. First it avoids having fans boo when the starting lineups are announced and second, JG for some reason seems to play better coming in after a series or two has been played.

It's the first one, not the second one. Fans be damned, he's gonna play the scrub the whole game.

Y'all kill me on here damn...The boy was diagnosed with concussions. Pruitt ain't taking a chance of ruining a boys future by playing him to early. JG or Shrout will get the nod untill they are 100% Maurer is ready. Both JG and Shrout are on a short lease. Pruitt can tolerate a missed pass or a read but making bonehead plays like throwing across your body or throwing into double gets you on the bench till the other makes a mistake. It don't matter to Pruitt who plays as long as they manage the O. They ain't no conspiracy theories here to see.

All true. But he was good enough for UAB. Which is what was needed last night
The problem is that Pruitt wants so badly to believe in JG that he's likely to take USCe and UAB to mean JG is all good. He hasn't changed or improved. The team around him has but he's still doing the same stuff that got him benched the first time.

Yeah, unfortunately I'm afraid one handed JG is more trustworthy. It's just where we are right now.
Pruitt hinted at not being confident in Maurer's injury being resolved.

I see things to like about Shrout but he isn't ready. JG is what he is. Maurer showed signs of being able to take it on.

Pruitt is apparently willing to trade JG's liabilities for his experience. I think that's a mistake that will cost UT badly vs UK and Mizzou. We'll see.

I don't agree. Maurer is probably still a bit of a health issue. I dont think Pruitt believes in JG, I think he just knows he still needs him.

The announcer interviewed coach JP before the game. When asked about the QB situation JP said JG is our best qb hands down and it's not even close. I believe him if for no other reason because he knows the play book. I can't wait for BM to come back because of his up side and explosive plays but even when he comes back JG will still get playing time due to situations that require certain plays.
If he's seeing JG consistently miss those deep plays and says that... My confidence in him won't be as high as it was beginning to be. I understand knowing the offense and managing it. There's value in it. But what JG did the past two weeks isn't going to beat UK or Mizzou. UT doesn't run well enough to cover it up. They need a playmaker at QB. The D is unlikely to hold UK and Mizzou like that... especially Mizzou.

JG STILL hasn't led the Vols to more than 30 points vs an FBS opponent. That's not good. That's really, really bad.

I think he wants to believe in him. He invested in him last January. He devoted $2 million plus in high profile coaches to fixing him. He sees a guy who is a practice warrior. What JG does on game day runs counter to what Pruitt believes and his stubborn commitment to making JG a good QB.

I think in about 60 days JG will no longer be at UT. That is how much I think CJP believes in him.
