Read through the first two pages of this thread and am too tired to read the rest. What I see missing in the narrative espousing all the honorable traits taught by our coach is the concept of winning being of importance. What I'm reading is that loyalty etc. is what we should expect to which I reply, I agree. However, if the tradition and expectation of winning at what you do is ignored or deemed to be a secondary goal then I say the wrong lessons are being taught. Football, like life itself, is a competition and when competing the goal is to win. Second best isn't and can't be acceptable.
