Year three turns out to be a 5-6, 6-6 season. Are you ready to give him an extension? I ask because if he isn't extended after season 3 recruiting will suffer since there is nothing to show the recruits he will be there during their 4 years.

No. Paint my glasses orange if you will, but I don't think that will happen, as terrible as this season is so far.

Firing Pruitt at the end of the season will have the same affect the Kiffin debacle had. It will set the program back 10 years.

How? We're at rock bottom now. Can't get any worse. The worst move we can make at this point is to stand still while we're at the program's all-time historic low. Let's at least get someone with experience and a track record of P5 head coaching success in here before we get all stand our groundish.

Not necessarily. I think, however, that we have seen, a few times that it does not require 4-5 years to know whether or not a coach will be successful here.

No. You are wrong. 2 to 3 years is not enough time. That thinking is why we are where we are.

I can agree with that but can you honestly sit back and say that every TN HC has walked into the exact same situation? Kiffin walked into a super weak SEC. So did Dooley and Butch for the most part. The SEC, especially the East, is much more competitive now.

My point is we cannot just use the same criteria to judge any HC in a new position. Because the situations are not identical.

What more can be said. The main problem we have today is that so many fans think they know what is best. My question is this....Has anybody on this board been to all the practices, team and coaches meetings ? Has anybody been to ANY college football practices, workouts, or meetings of any to 25 team in the country. Has anybody on here WON a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP at anything. I dare say the answer is NO.
We are just fans of a school with great amounts of history and winning tradition that is going through the same thing that every school goes through. Yes is it is taking longer than anybody wants but we need to be honest with ourselves here Tennessee is in a funk that has been exasperated by 2 bad hires, one good one that left and now one that of the few that wanted it was on par for what they were willing to pay (caused by having to pay MILLIONS for bad hires to begin with.)
Gruden was not coming, Peyton would be a fool to even consider it (going to one day be a GM or owner in the NFL) coach X great offensive mind, coach Y great defensive mind, coach Z great recruiter and great organizer would only come for 10 mill a year.....give me a break. WE WILL NOT PAY THAT MUCH.... NEVER HAVE .....EVER AND NEVER WILL. Go back in our history and look.
Only 2 high profile coaches ever.... Majors and Kiffin ... thats it.
Being a VOL fan is tough, EVERYBODY hates us and yes we have been down for a while and yes we will be good again but this instant gratification mentality we all seem to have now will not get us anywhere other than where we are ....wanting something else when we really have no idea of what we may have.
