Florida will be tougher than everyone thinks

Not sure of that. Don't know who is. Certainly not at qb.

While Glennon maybe better than UF qb's it's not like he's a world beater. Just like his team he is WAY over rated. Once Moore picked up his assignments and the recievers quit being open by 10 yards, Glennon showed his true ability.

UF is better than NCState, make no mistake. Judging Florida off the 1st game is fool hardy IMO. We better be ready.

and I also think SCe was sandbagging a little.
Hiding what they have and protecting their best players for the tough games ahead.

I think Dooley knows this and that is why he is warning our players to not be overconfident because of one win.

I guess that's why he put Latimore in fresh off of injury, his starting QB, etc???

Where do people come up with this stuff? Both teams struggled to beat bad teams. You do not sandbag when you are in danger of losing. They both gutted out what they had to do to get "W"s.

Agreed. Also, you don't "sandbag" period. You may keep your game plan simple, but you do not ever play poorly on purpose to hide your true talent level. That's ridiculous.

They sucked last year too and made us look like a HS team. For the life of me I dont understand the overconfidence against a team havent beaten in close to a decade. And the last win we had we were lucky because of terrible 15 yard penalty call that stopped the clock and won on a 50+ yard field goal. Fulmer had much better teams than UF, especially while Peyton was there and couldn't beat them. We definitely have the better team and are at home but doesnt guarantee a win. Im tired of losing to UF and Ala. Dooley needs this win in a bad way to not only break the streak but to instill confidence in the fanbase that he is the guy to get us past the worst years in Vol football history.

You do realize that we lost JH during that game last year, right?

You also realize that neither the UF, nor the UT teams of the past seven years are fielding this year, right?

You realize that neither Fulmer, Spurrier, nor Meyer are on the sidelines in this game, this year, right?

I have an idea, let's not play any games at all, since previous streaks play that much part in wins and losses.

Like you said, we have the better team at home. let our poor fanbase have some excitement, Ms Downer.

I agree there was no sandbagging by either team. But just because they struggled in an opening game means little to me. I see it every year. Hell I've seen us do it in the past. Florida nor USC will be an easy game. Can we beat them both? Yes. Let's hope we're ready and play well.

Yep. And if UF and SCe kept their game plans simple, it doesn't help the argument that they are better than they appeared. When you screw up the "simple" game plan that badly, what happens if they try to open it up?

SCe had really bad QB play. Simple plan or not... If that QB comes to UT underthrowing his receivers that badly, UT will kill them.

UF... They had better improve vastly between now and the UT game, or they are in trouble.

Neither game is a sure-thing right now. But as a UT fan, I feel vastly better about them than I did before the season started. Heck... I even feel better about the UGA game!

It means a lot more to me than if they had beaten their opposing teams in the manner UT beat ours. Or... If UT had stunk up the NCSU game the way they did theirs.

It means a lot, actually, from that perspective.

Can UF and SCe improve? Absolutely. But it feels much better being a UT fan after watching those three games, no?

Then enjoy it. :hi:

I just don't put much stock when a team that has a lot of talent struggles in a 1st game against a cupcake like UF or Oklahoma did last week for example. We'll learn more about UF this week.

Florida will be very tough. Unless we're clicking on all cylinders, we could easily lose.

But let's just take it one game at a time, please?

UT's practicing for fla all week--they can beat lowly ga state by 50-60 just by showing up.

the Gators have been tuff for years,UT will have to play a hell of a game to win this year,it can be done, but they need to focus on this weeks game and not worry about the Gators

I like Tennessee by 18. I predicted a 21 point win over NC State. If the refs would have called the game correctly, it would have come to pass.

We must be doing something wrong.
After all, we have lost to them seven years in a row.

Nothing worse than not being prepared and underestimating your foe.

It will boil down to UT being able to run the ball. If we can, we should win. UF almost always has superior athletes on their team compared to us. They do in many positions again this year except WR. We need to hold them to less than 14 points inthe 1st half. If we can get them in the locker room at half down by more than a touchdown, it will be a great step towards beating UF.

I dont want to hear any excuses.... if we dont beat UF this year when do we expect to do it? 0-8 is not acceptable

Humble doesn't cut it anymore. We've tried that and we still got our az handed to us.

But I'll hold off til Saturday evening...if the gators handle aTm I will dampen my enthusiasm one click.

Those of us who live in reality agree that as of now we really don't know much about UF but we will know a lot more after their game with the Aggies.
