Florida vs LSU

You didn’t think Florida would beat Auburn. I’m pretty sure you were one of the numerous Vols fans proclaiming “we’ve got a good shot against Florida.” In fact, I can’t recall anything you’ve gotten right when predicting Florida or Tennessee outcomes. And you may not think Florida is a top 10, but they are. Ranked 7th and undefeated, and already bowl eligible.

You are in denial.

We need another win to be bowl eligible I believe because of FCS rule. Correct me if I am wrong.

Florida is better than expected. It is hard for Vol fans to admit it, because we thought we were in about the same place 2 years ago. I guess we weren't or we hired the wrong guy, or we have a different rebuild plan that takes longer. We will see how much better this weekend. I expect LSU will have less success offensively than they have so far this season (not a reach). I am interested to see the LSU D vs the Florida O.

I think Florida will hang and may pull it out.
Thought FL would continue to twist in the wind after the McElwain era. Then they hired Mullen and my opinion didn't change. Feel like the Dawgs are so far ahead of everybody in the east that UGA shouldn't be challenged for the forseeable future. But funny things happen. Agree FL progress under Mullen has been unexpected. (TN about right where I thought they'd be). Don't think this is FL's year, but they have managed to remain unbeaten going into week 8 and could easily win 10 games again.
LSU putting up Ohio State numbers against, meh, competition. Texas may be a quality win. We'll see after the Shootout.

This may alienate a bunch of fellow Gators, but I truly want UT to get back to a degree of prominence (that never includes a victory over UF, of course) because this rivalry is not as fun when the Vols aren't good...But the fact of the matter is this, we are good, VERY good, and have what in my opinion is an elite coach who's only going to make us better while the jury is still very much out on Pruitt.

I don't like kicking people while they're down, but I'm pretty sure a lot of them are just "putting on a brave face", so to speak, in regards to Mullen and the trajectory of our program.

Longest winning streak of any team in the SEC, first SEC to be bowl eligible.

D.e.n.i.a.l.

Don’t be shocked if Florida beats LSU.

Wouldn’t shock me at all. This will be LSU’s biggest test. I hope it’s a tight hard fought game. It’s one of my favorite rivalries. How’s your QB?

To be fair, av123 nailed his prediction of UF losing to AU, unless our D made Nix look like a freshman.

You may have been thinking of UTK...dude is a hot take factory approaching Nationdom levels of inaccuracy.

He ruined any credibility by his incessant hot take of “Florida isn’t a top 10 team.”

Any SEC team at 6-0 with wins over Auburn, Tennessee, Miami and Kentucky would be top 10 at this point.

He's the Dobbs4Heisman of inaccurately predicting Florida football games.

Didnt Sharky start off hot also?

Not 16-3 hot. He lost 4 games his first year and lost to Tennessee early in his second year. Down hill from there.

You gotta go back to Spurrier and Meyer to find a 16-3 start.

Meh...that’s a VN coping mechanism.

UF is forever held to its Spurrier/Meyer standard.

Anything less than that, in spite of ranking or record, is proof UF ain’t all that.

I don’t understand the infatuation with the ranking system. Other than for the playoffs, who cares.

Having said that I cannot imagine why Florida would not be considered top 10 having beaten Barn, who was respected this year, and being undefeated.
The rest of the wins are not that impressive this year as the rest of the teams are not that good and we outright suck. That’s not Florida’s fault as they beat who was put in front of them.

But I digress

Id agree with that by itself. Those other 3 just tell you you re not terrible.

I don’t know if UF is a Top 10 team or not, and at this point in the season it’s not all that relevant regardless of what happens at LSU.

We lost three games last year and finished in the Top 10.

Best matchup of the weekend imo, college or pro.

Most people are looking at the LSU O against the Florida D, but I'm more interested in the opposite matchup. Texas shredded the LSU D even with all their talent, and Trask has brought stability to the Florida O. The team that wins this battle wins the game.

I agree. DGAF about the current ranking. To me it is win the division, then the conference and go to CFP. Rankings take care of themselves. With that being said in the big scheme of things UGA is the game that matters the most. We lose again to them in blow out fashion and this season would be very average, with FSU being down, a win against them is no more impressive than beating the Vols this year. UGA lost to LSU last year and they were still knocking on the CFP.

I’d be happy if the first round of the playoffs were the conference championship games.
Then all the rankings would be like basketball.
Completely irrelevant
