Florida looks like garbage UPDATE: LOST

College football is a week to week proposition. I do not let a team's performance one week, determine how I think they are going to perform the next week. Thats why Georgia concerns the hell out of me, despite the Austin Peay game.

I've seen this all evening and this morning about people going "OMG what if Golesh goes to Florida"..... That is nonsense... The best job that will be available this offseason will be Auburn if they kick the tires on Freeze. Auburn fans are dying to take back that state with Bama's slide down from domination. If they determine Freeze isn't going to do it, that will be the one job Golesh would be primed for.

Florida is literally a cesspool of an administration and school.
LOL Golesh is still 16-13 as a HC...it's hilarious and reminds me of people wanting Hugh Freeze as a HC

It helps to not think of it as the University of South(ern) Florida, but instead think of it as the University of Florida-South. As in, "south of Gainesville." Heh.

I know, I know, that logic breaks down if you try to extend it to UCF (though it works okay for FAU). *shrug* No one ever claimed the goofballs in Florida are high on logic.

Go Vols!
It used to be Tampa University or University of Tampa. They had campuses in St. Petersburg and Sarasota Mantatee. So they just consolidated into 1 name USF so the other cities would not feel disenfranchised. I remember when Tampa U had a QB named Freddie Solomon who played 11 years for 49ners & Miami Dolphins as a wide receiver back in the day.

Too early in the season to know. The first 2 games is too few data points. Georgia and Florida are playing teams that it's hard to get inspired to play. Georgia will be up for us and Florida will be waiting.
by the time Florida gets to us they will have gone through a schedule I almost can't imagine. There is a chance they lose almost all their games this year. It is going to be a rough year to be a gator.

Let's slow our roll a minute. Why do we believe that Golesh will take a job at FU (a.k.a Florida)? If he is that hot of a coach, then he may have other choices. FU has been in slow decline since Urban Meyer left. It's a place where winning coaches end their career's upward trajectory.

So for years we wished the FL game wasn’t scheduled for our first conference game of the year. Now we have Gators late in the schedule giving them a chance to get it straightened out before playing TN. Go figure.

We are 3-17 in last 20 games against Ga
and 2-13 against Fla. Go ahead and bet Vols

It isn't the logos, it is the coaches. Look at Alabama pre-Saban and possibly post-Saban. So explain to me how Derek Dooley, Butch Jones, Jeremy Pruitt, and Josh Heupel all have the same systems, players, program, etc. There isn't any connections between any of them.

Go look at UGA vs Tennessee back in 1990s, under that thought, Georgia shouldn't have started beating Tennessee.

I won't deny that they've got a rough schedule. Probably going to cost that coach his job. Which I hate because as long as he's there, Florida isn't going to be crap. But at the same time, anyone who knows the Tennessee Florida rivalry knows that it does not matter how poorly they play throughout the season, they always seem to dig in deep and play us like they are world beaters.

Golesh is already proving he can navigate and succeed in a challenging state of Florida recruiting landscape. Imagine what he could do at UF with the money and resources they have there.

The Gators are a proud program. Even in decline, they are still dangerous simply because the state of Florida has all the talent in the world.

In the three years prior to Golesh taking over, USF was 1-8, 2-10, and 1-11. Been a pretty impressive rebuild to say the least.
Yes but as I said in other thread part of that was because the conference had Cincy, UCF, Houston, SMU. And now has north Texas, FAU, Charlotte etc.

If you look at his wins there almost everyone of them was over mid majors with 7-9 losses

His biggest wins are against Florida who will have 7-9 losses and Syracuse who had 7 losses

Ya need to recalibrate. Those preseason discussions seeking to justify Heupel as a top ten active head coach mentioned Golesh more than once. Dude took over a serious dumpster fire. 🔥
He took over a dumpster fire that was playing a killer schedule and more great conference teams that were replaced by bottom feeders when he started
