Florida game confidence

Last year, in my game prediction (where I had Tennessee winning), I wrote these two things.

I think the fact that Tennessee still finds ways to lose instead of win will also help to keep the game fairly close.

Tennessee being stuck on stupid is where I pin most of my hopes and sadly, for you all, that’s not out of the realm of possibility.

Beyond all the other X's and O's that get debated, until Butch proves otherwise, I put a lot of stock in the bolded statements.

QB play has always been a critical factor. Seems the one with an NFL caliber QB, wins.
Since Dobbs has fixed his long ball accuracy, it's in the bag. Florida fell to pieces and who's your QB?

Florida's Qb wont even have time to throw the ball with Derek Barnett and Kongbo coming at them all game. We also have a lot depth with Kyle Phillips and Latroy Lewis coming once they get tired. Im calling we sack them 6 plus times, when we play them next year in Neyland.

Some times pressure is not the answer. Just kind of keep them in the pocket make them beat with their arm. A drop here and there, fumble this fumble that , even a blind hog....

Dobbs "has fixed his long ball accuracy" based on a few spring practices? News to me.

It's the exact opposite. The team with the NFL caliber QB typically loses this game, especially if he wears orange and white. What Florida "NFL caliber qbs" have ever beaten Tennessee? Wuerffel? Palmer? Tebow? Driskell? None of those guys have done squat in the league. Not that any of ours have either outside of Peyton....but that's kind of the point, isn't it?

When Florida was good and had solid coaching, it didn't hurt as bad losing to them, it still sucked. But when they suck and still beat us, unacceptable.

In 2009 papa Kiffen called the play to stop Florida on 3rd down, we had him cold, then Tebow pulled a superman move and our guys started diving at his feet.

The garbage parade ends.

In 2013 Butch thought starting Peterman was a good idea. In 2014 Butch thought kicking field goals was a good idea. In 2015 Butch thought that starting Jumper, calling timeouts when UF is about to kick, rushing 3 on 4th and 13, and not going for 2 when up by 12 were good ideas. What good ideas will Butch have in 2016? I have watched Butch be flat out coached by Will Muschamp, Jim McElwain, James Franklin, and Derrick Dooley. If he doesn't have a CLEAR talent advantage he can not win. I don't see a clear talent advantage with Dobbs inability to exploit the secondary so I'm calling this one a loss.

If we played the game today, I give it to the gators. We have a ton of guys (14 last count I think) out. I'm not sure how many will be ready to go after fall practice. But, the last time we stopped a streak this large we beat Bama in Legion field and stomped them. I loved every second of it. I don't say the vols win this game until it's over but this is our best chance in a while

I'm not going to out and out agree with you but I'm not calling BS until I can call BS.

I hope he was running around the out field throwing it home. A football, if he can be on a dead sprint and hit home from left center, it's not him.

Once he did that they told him he could go on vacation.

If that's not what happened, then whatever they did it had better worked.

If it is a tight game in the 4th, zero confidence. But I'd think we win by 20 plus

It wasn't tight in the 4th quarter last year but we still lost. I get your point, agree with it, but raise it a little bit. We're gonna have to play a great game and Florida a bad game so that we can build up a big enough lead (21-28, maybe even more points) after 3 for me to feel remotely comfortable that we can hang on for the win.

I don't count the win until the other team is on the bus leaving......been a fan too long to believe otherwise.

I won't expect comfort until until Monday after. I'm gonna drink so much Jack Daniels.

Here are a few things we can count on:

-A relatively unknown UF player will have a career day
-Either UT will get a TD wiped away due to a phantom penalty or UF will get a TD despite committing an obvious penalty themselves
-We will have an extremely untimely turnover that wipes away all momentum
-Butch will have a meltdown on the sidelines and turn purple
-There will be CBS camera shots of speechless Vols fans with their hands on their heads several times during the game
-The game will be close in the 4th quarter
-Gary and Verne will mention the streak at least 10 times
-UF's biggest weakness heading into the game will be a non-factor, and our biggest strength will be nullified somehow

Despite all of that, I still think we win. But it won't be easy.

The LSU game was out of bounds. I told one dude on Monday, he had no idea. I felt bad for telling him.

Spying Grier on 4th and 14 was all Jancek. I like to think that Butch fired him for that reason. Oh, and because he did it against UGA again just a few weeks later.

100% agree with the untimely turnover. We'll be up by 21 with 5 min in the game. 1st down from our own 20. Dobbs will drop back and try to throw a deep ball. Receivers will be jammed up and Dobbs won't see the DE that beat our LT starting his first game (the alternate is we'll start a horrible LT up to this point but after giving up 3 sacks in this game he'll finally be benched) drills Dobbs, ball pops free and UF recovers for a score. McElwain gambles with an onside kick and recovers in. Everyone in the stadium knows UF is about to score 17 more unanswered

Agree. Especially vs Florida. I think I'll have to see the game, watch the other team get on the bus and sleep on it for 3-4 days before I'll believe it actually happened. It's like Haley's freaking comet.....wins vs the Gators just don't come around very often.
