Florida = Cupcake Game

I don't know how, but the gators always find a way in the swamp against us.

It's a conundrum. It sucks. It's crushing.

....but the gators always seem to find a way.

There is no excuses to lose down there this weekend. Florida is whipped, they’ve got nothing to play for and if JH loses this game, it’s gonna be a black stain on his résumé, they need to go down there and play a clean football game and we need to be up by three touchdowns at halftime if they screw around in the first quarter and make a bunch of dumb mistakes and turn the ball over it’s gonna be a long game. Can this team just please play one clean football game on the road? Is that too much to ask for?

Brother, I agree that if there was a time to end this thing it’s this year, but remember Fulmer was a good coach and was owned by Florida as well. The last time we won there I was a senior in high school, the iPhone hadn’t been invented yet and Britney Spears was still popular. I’ll believe it when I see it.
That may be one of the funniest responses I've read on here lol. I believe it ends this year though.

Florida has won this game as much as they have because they've frankly had better players overall and, much of the time, better coaching. And UT wasn't good enough to overcome mental mistakes, etc. Not sure if we have more talent this year or not. I think we do? And I'd like to think we have better coaching. As I said in another post, my heart wants UT to win big but I don't think there's that much of a gap between these two teams talent-wise and this will be a frustrating game to watch. I hope I'm pleasantly surprised Saturday night. God knows we could use a comfortable, mistake-free SEC win for once this year.

Indeed, because IF Kiffin is their next coach, I doubt we beat them in the swamp as long as he is their. We NEED this one!

How many starters will be out? How many impact players has Florida lost for the game? None of those defensive names seem like their impact players based on their cumulative season stats. So does it really matter if they're out or not?

Additionally, Florida will also be getting back a redshirt senior on their DL who was considered a potential NFL draft pick before getting injured earlier in the season. He apparently wanted to go last week but had a bit of lingering pain to address - well good news, he's ready to play against us this week.

That injury report may not mean as much as you think it does.
The biggest one is Gumbs- leads them in sacks and tfl. So that definitely affects the defense.
Also, if Eugene Wilson is out that’s big.

We gotta win it. I'll be durned if we don't, this seems like potentially the last time we'll play em for a bit. I don't think we'll play them the season after next either.
We should and need to win it. The world beaters at Kentucky with all the incredible talent & savant coaching them, Mark Stoops, have beaten Florida 4 out of the last 5 games including three in a row prior to last year's loss.

Anyone that believes this is a cupcake game will be very disappointed Sat. night. Not saying Vols lose but saying it will be close all the way.

There are no "cupcake" games in this league anymore, especially on the road, and more so in a rivalry game. But all the pearl clutching due to "what always happens" is completely nonsense and has zero to do with this week other than in some fans' heads.

I think it was JD Pickell who said Florida just always gets up for this game no matter what, because they literally hate Tennessee.

Florida has a very talented team and talent still on the field. Not sure what their problem has been, but I guarantee they will be motivated, fired up and wanting very badly to beat us Saturday. We better bring our A+ game.

We lost to a 4-8 no bowl team down there in 2023 with more talent than them with a clueless coach that they finally fired...I wouldn't bet a solid dollar on us beating them down there.
Sadly, they probably beat us in Neyland last year if Mertz doesn't get hurt.

I don't believe it. When Tennessee shows up, Florida will play like they are all heisman candidates. Never fails.
