For all the angst here about playing in the swamp:

Florida will have no where near the talent on the field that we will have. I'm not sure if Florida has a secondary or a pass rush for Saturday night. Heup and Joey will name their score. We ain't in the Dooley/Butch/Pruitt years anymore friends. We didn't have a 'swamp curse', we had a 'bad coaches curse' that Heup has turned around. No way we come out of Gainesville with less than a 20 point win.

Brother, I agree that if there was a time to end this thing it’s this year, but remember Fulmer was a good coach and was owned by Florida as well. The last time we won there I was a senior in high school, the iPhone hadn’t been invented yet and Britney Spears was still popular. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Fulmer wasn’t as good a coach as Spurrier or Meyer. That’s why he had trouble beating them.

He was a better coach than Ron Zook. That’s why he went 2-1 against him.

It really is a matter of the coach/team being better that determines outcomes, not logos or team names.

Yeah, but we should’ve won there in 2023 as well. I’m telling you there’s something about it. We will see…

I would also argue that Butch was probably just as good or bad of a coach as Muschamp and McElwain and he only beat Florida once.

They have played several teams really tough and have a good defense. We give up points, play at night, and on the road. If you act like we win by 3 touchdowns you might be setting yourself up. We can win but even Vegas is only favoring us by a couple points. Florida will be up for this game. We need to punch them in the mouth early and break their spirit.

How many starters will be out? How many impact players has Florida lost for the game? None of those defensive names seem like their impact players based on their cumulative season stats. So does it really matter if they're out or not?

Additionally, Florida will also be getting back a redshirt senior on their DL who was considered a potential NFL draft pick before getting injured earlier in the season. He apparently wanted to go last week but had a bit of lingering pain to address - well good news, he's ready to play against us this week.

That injury report may not mean as much as you think it does.

Spurrier used to live in Fulmer's head; always used to chuckle about that because Phil couldn't handle it. Of course, I didn't like the VOL losses.

I remember Fulmer having problems with clock and game management in the big games with close scores. He'd stop running the offense and get way too conservative, and worse, he'd do it way too early.
Same old story. Shut down your offense, the opponent catches up, try to get your offense going again like it was early in the game, and it's cold, and doesn't work. Some coaches never understand that you can't just turn an offense off and back on like that.

Had it not been for Spurrier, would Fulmer had been given a pass on that second losing season?

A fat kid that hasn't done much conditioning for the last two months is gonna hurt us? C'mon, dudes only gonna play 6-8 snaps this game.

Their best edge rusher is out. They have no depth in the secondary. Their hope is in a guy who hasn't played football since Penn State was #2 in the country. We rollin' the gators.

Tell us more about a game from 14 years ago with a different coach who we still should’ve won save a terrible fumble and a blown refs call for us to end the game

Also, several players from that team have all but admitted many of the starters mailed it in because they didn’t want to play in a small bowl game.

The teams Butch lost to won the East, except in 2017, when we went 4-8 and they went 4-7 and beat us on a Hail Mary.

We just lost to better teams. Hell, the Florida team he beat in 2016 won the East, so that was, in retrospect, an upset.

It really is a matter of losing to better teams in most cases. Tennessee fans just didn’t want to admit it. Yes, Florida was inferior in 2023, but that doesn’t make for a curse. Arkansas was inferior in 2024, but no one is taking about an Arkansas curse (look up the last time we won in Fayetteville).

We have a tendency as a team to make catastrophic mistakes at critical moments (i.e. poor Max's attempt, pick 6 Bama, scoop and score Oklahoma). We are who we are at this point.

I suspect it will come down to who makes fewer mistakes. A sloppy, ugly affair.

I doubt this will be a blowout for either team.
