Fire Kim Caldwell

BIngo. You have a system that is presumably almost impossible to learn so you have to write off the first two months of the season as a learning curve (not great for seeding purposes) and then once the players learn it, it takes more time still for them to consistently implement this ephemeral system (which as far as I can tell hinge on the ability to be in two places at once).

Now you integrate 11-12 new players with no experience in the system and expect to have success?
Well the first year. It was new to the entire team and they did fine. Second year it was new to everyone but Coop and Zee and they did fine, until they quit.

Did she? As I’ve posted in another thread. The players quit on her and the team in February and we all seen it. Then March rolls around and they quit on the team and coach again. Now whether Asst. Coaches had anything to do with the “coup” to quit on CKC that’s yet to be confirmed. But it’s clear as day the players quit on the team.
Yep Cooper crying after the loss to NC State has quitter written all over it.

As I said earlier, name me a coach that would come to Tennessee with this crap show.
In a weird way now would be the perfect time. Fan base hates current coach. Program is at rock bottom. AD knows he screwed up so might open up the wallet. You would ride in on a white horse and be a conquering hero if you managed to salvage a ncaa bid, only lost to SC by twenty and some players decided to stay a couple of years. We are now Low Bar U.

I said what I said BEFORE today's transpirings around the upcoming the portal.
ZERO....ZERO....ZERO players will return next year.
How many of the current recruits will try to bale out now too ???

Knowing now what I didn't know a few hours ago - Danny White needs to have a serious discussion with Caldwell about what players she is chasing in the portal, what recruits she has coming, and whether those players will fit and be productive on day one.

If anything comes out of her mouth other than 5 stars, high profiles, great fits, accountable players that ball out, she needs to go now.
I don’t think she could win with ten 5-stars. Her system is trash. When not one player wants to stay in her program, that says it all. The great players don’t want to come to a program where they’ll be yanked out every two minutes. The silence is deafening from the powers that be. Can’t wait to see who we get from the portal. More three school transfers is my guess which means more behavior/attitude issues ie Barker

Here is how I see it. This situation is kinda like Paul Johnson when he was hired to coach at Georgia Tech. He was highly successful at Georgia Southern, however he ran the triple option. His first year or two he was successful with it because it was odd. However he had to recruit specialized players to actually run his offense. Highly skilled WRs or QBs were not flocking to play in that system. By year 3 teams figured it out and it was a bust. He set GT back five years. Recruiting pipelines dried up because coaches was going to send good WR to be a glorified blocker. In his system you couldn't recruit Peyton Manning because he is not gonna change the "system".

This is what I feel you are seeing today with Lady Vols basketball. In this system you wouldn't even recruit a player like CP, Aja Wilson, Caitlin Clark, Tarausi etc. The system takes away from what they do best. That is the inherint flaw of it all.

Although that seems reasonable we are gonna trot out a “system” no strong player wants to play in. Once the press gets broken this team will have no athletes to play defense or rebound. I’ll eat my hat if we advance to the Sweet 16 in the next 2 years.

Sometimes you have the wrong coach in the wrong place. She’s a mid major coach running a mid major system. Nothing wrong with recognizing it.
Paul Johnson Georgia Southern to GT is what I get.

It was far from a great roster.
Turned out to be one of the worst shooting rosters in Tennessee history. None of them could play defense and were terrible at the free throw line. Some of the things she lets happens in her system contributed as well, but that roster had a few people that just couldn't play basketball at a high level at least not last season.

I'll say this. If you pick any team out there and you let them shoot 3s freely at the clip that our team did, like BAD shooters included and shooting in volume, then you'll get the "one of the worst shooting rosters in history" result. And it won't be because your roster is weak necessarily. It's because you aren't maximizing its strengths. People shooting higher percentage in rhythm shots in general will fix a lot of that.

We saw this exact team compete at times and then shoot themselves in the foot with ridiculous decisions. Coaching and development can correct that, with repetition and time. Also, we were often gassed or had no belief/confidence or chemistry - all which affect performance. So, I dunno. I think we did have a roster. The usage rates of certain players were off. Who was shooting what and when, off. But, this is part of the system. We didn't have a bad roster, we did have a bad roster for this type of system perhaps.

Here's my honest gut check question: If you gave that exact same roster that we had last year to Kara Lawson would you get the same result? What about Dawn Staley? Somebody prepare me to throw up - Geno? What do y'all think? I don't think so. Would love to hear other opinions.

We don't know, and like I said some of the things she let happen contributed greatly. Good news is we will get a conclusion in year three she will either succeed to a point we move on with her or totally flop and this time she will have to be gone. Like I said many times with the entire team gone I would've changed it all now we didn't. So here we are she gets her chance for redemption or failure. I am hoping she can be successful still knowing how tough a job that will be.

I've been the biggest Danny White supporter on here, but what he's allowed to happen to one of the marquee programs in the sport is ridiculous, we might just have to do a Schiano Sunday Lady Vol style to bring about change

Yesterday….im starting to question if Danny has a different type of liking to this lady. Literally sacrificed the entire team for a D2 coach wth is really going on?
If you are referring to what I think you are referring to, then I would seriously hope not. That sort of thing is career-ending levels of stupidity

They would win more than 16 games easily. No player could never get in rythym in this system.

How many first time fathers actually bore children? How many had to jiggle breast feeding schedules with shootarounds?

You have two words there that should never be juxtaposed in a family-friendly forum.

[Edit: Sorry, glv. Posted before seeing that you had already addressed the gaffe. Over-juggling this a.m.]

I would think the #1 item is the job description is keeping the team together. Since everyone is gone including coaches in question she should tell her side of the story so all recruits, parents, fans know what happened.

I believe CKC should go, but rumors state that Roman Tauber was basically undercutting her. If true, we were and are in a pickle. Her hands are tied regardless of what's true or not.
Whatever anybody says about the situation and the house is on fire regardless of who started the fire. Take the lumps and hire a new coach.

I think the rumor is that it was Gabe, not Roman, undernining her. I know it’s hard to keep up with all the rumors, but the radio guy said it wasn’t about Roman.

Oh no! Barnes’ team lost by 33 in the tournament and multiple players are jumping into the portal. Fire Barnes! Fire Danny White! Start a poll to see if we can stir up the “fans.” I can’t take it any more. Let me personally insult and degrade someone…

Hey Hey now some people just don't understand when things don't go well it can get ugly. Especially when the other team is clicking just a thought 😉
