Fire Kim Caldwell

They kinda need a coach that doesn't lose the ENTIRE roster at the end of a season.
Both DW big hires (KC and Heupel) were up and coming coaches with gimmick tactics. Opponents have figured out Heupel so he doesn’t use the gimmick as much and it hasn’t worked for KC. I sense a pattern here with the AD hires and it is not a good pattern.

I said what I said BEFORE today's transpirings around the upcoming the portal.
ZERO....ZERO....ZERO players will return next year.
How many of the current recruits will try to bale out now too ???

Knowing now what I didn't know a few hours ago - Danny White needs to have a serious discussion with Caldwell about what players she is chasing in the portal, what recruits she has coming, and whether those players will fit and be productive on day one.

If anything comes out of her mouth other than 5 stars, high profiles, great fits, accountable players that ball out, she needs to go now.
I'll take one of these, please >>
Jewel Spear #82 - 4 Star
Samara Spencer #72 - 4 Star ( SEC Freshman of the Year )
Aubrey Galvan #63 - 4 Star ( SEC Freshman of the Year )

I don't want anything micromanaged. If she is the coach, let her do her job. If she fails, he needs to do his job better picking the next coach.

What makes you so sure they quit? Is it because CKC said after the very embarrassing loss at SC that they would quit on her? That was the moment she threw them completely under the bus with the "they quit on me" comment.

Maybe they realized in that game that it was a lost cause and that the coaches on the sideline were not going to do anything to redirect them.

I just went back and rewatched that. It was bad, really bad.
Under the bus? How sawft is that? They would have died if they were kicked out of the gym and made to wash their own uniforms.

It's not crazy it's Lazy just like all reporters and other social media. They don't dig up the whole story just report bits and pieces. Find the right sources and tell both sides. Quit leaving loose ends for speculation. Another thing that seems rather obvious she's probably not a player friendly coach. Again 2 wrongs don't make a right.

Even if you feel that is what happened, you just don't say what she said in public the way she said it. It doesn't fix the issue.

Regardless, if those who you are leading are quitting, it is your responsibility as a leader to understand why and attempt to address it even if that means you sacrifice your system and play only the 5 or 6 who will not quit.

Edited to add- no way she was going to get the needed effort out of the team after that.

Instant transfer, no sit out rule has changed everything last few years. I think about 6+ schools have lost > 80% of their players Iowa State maybe all. Some searching for money some not satisfied with playing time , some feelings got hurt. Its a easy choice if things get tough just divorce yourself from team and go gold dig if you are a wanted player, make that money before the real world.. Its the new game and its getting more so now that its super easy. A kid should be able to go an attend any school they want as long as it gets paid for by somebody.

Agree it makes it easier for players who don't feel it is working for them to leave.

They already have high quality players visiting from the portal. Just because a player had a high ranking out of high school and are on their way to the portal to a 3rd or 4th team while playing at a Power 4 school that doesn’t make them a high quality player. Both players that are confirmed to be visiting Tennessee are as good as most players in the portal right now.

The guard from Liberty and who is the second?

They dominated Missouri in the next game and played really good against Texas. The wheels came off over that.

Facts are these assistants coddled there recruits padding them on the back and telling them they would talk to Coach Kim about changes. Believe me players in programs around the country go to assistants and talk and assistants either coddle them and talk to head coach or they tell them to toughen up get with the program but will talk to head coach as well. So guess what Kim playcated to wishes against her better judgment and guess what still failed because of certain players and coaches didn't work to be better. Now again it happens sometimes but now its being spun that it was a mutiny when really disagreement in coaches and how to handle situations that come up on a team. Kim problem is inexperienced to handle such situations and this became a much bigger problem than it should have but inexperienced young head coach at iconic brand not ready to handle.

I was just wondering .... Do any of our female posters on VolNation have eligibility remaining?

If so, we may need you to suit up for us in 2026-27, just so the Lady Vols can field a team.

This actually makes the most sense - no mutiny just the normal dialogue between players and coaches closer to them. Happens in any situation where you have a team of folks working together with layers of leadership.

As for inexperience, she has been coaching for 10 years - would have thought she would have experienced this before. Maybe it is the difference of highly touted D1 players verses D2 players that are just glad to be playing.

What games did KH ever coach Samara Spencer, Lazaria Spearman, and Ruby Whitehorn?
They weren’t even on the team and were 3 of the 5 double figure scorers on Coach Caldwell 24-10 team.
Talaysia Cooper and Kaniya Boyd were redshirted in her final season so she didn’t even coach them during a regular season.

When KH’s players graduated.

Big difference big difference. You can tell those D2 players to charge brick wall and they would different heart. Now that's the trick is getting elite talent to play hard all the time they are out there but not enough of them.

This report from Paige makes a lot of sense to me. I think the recruiting class just had personalities that got too big to be managed and all were tied to a specific coach. CKC might surprise us next year.

My parents used to laugh about a story about a father sitting at a dinner table and his toddler in his high chair was crying, and the father says, “Shut up and drink your beer.”

That’s what it feels like DW is saying now to all Lady Vol fans.
