Fire Dave Hart

Dave Hart hired Butch and switched us to Nike. Also he almost got rid of that dumb Lady Vols logo that unnecessarily separates Men and Women's sports of the same school. Bring back Bruce and he'll be even more of a winner in my book.

Thank you for saying it. DUMB Lady Vols logo. It's stupid.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Well, the bball team that finished 10th was picked to finish 14th, so we exceeded expectations.

The sports you refer to as "who cares" are actually doing pretty well. Have you seen how our golf and tennis teams have done recently?

Baseball is having an unexpectedly poor year. However, softball is still ranked in the top 20.

I'm not here to defend Dave Hart, but many folks get on here with all emotion and no facts or context, such as your remark about bball finishing 10th in SEC. Everyone knows they finished better than expected but you try to twist it into a negative.

Hart has two major issues to deal with: the Tyndall hiring/firing, and the dissolution of the Lady Vols logo. Obviously, the Tyndall situation has to be dealt with immediately. And, rightly so, Hart will be scrutinized over who he hires to replace Tyndall. Unfortunately, the Lady Vols saga will continue to play out over several more months.

Hey if you're satisfied with an Athletics program that " overachieves" by finishing 10th instead of their predicted 14th then maybe you should become a Vandy fan. If you think Tennis is doing good, check their record. Bottom line, Hart has been our AD for 4 years and for the most part we have one of the worst performing athletic departments in the SEC. I don't need any more " facts" than this to determine Hart needs to be fired.

I'm talking about public perception. The perception is we ran a sweet 16 out of town basically because he was black. Do I believe martin could coach a middle school team?f Heck no he was awful. Attendance is irrelevant I never said we weren't a loyal fan base everyone knows and understands that.

I hope you're not serious about this. His skin color had nothing to do with the fact he was a poor coach. Look at what he did at Cal this year with a talented roster. As one previous poster said he had one of the most talented rosters UT has had in the past 10 years and had to play in game to make the NCAA tourney. Also, he didn't want to be here from the beginning.

Sure do. And they have a great coach as well. Took 2 different teams to the College World Series. Hope he has a chance to turn it around before the nutjob fans run him off without an idea as to who to replace him with.Seems to be a segment of our fan bases ammo. Can point out the problems, ignore the successes, and offer no legitimate solutions.

I don't think there's any chance of that. Very few people care.

Listening to the rebroadcast of Finebaum. Pretty much nails it. Major mistake by Hart.

Funny, I have only watched Finebaum a few times in the last year. One of the episodes, early season, he was talking about how UT was surprising the critics and what a catch Tyndall was.

Someone needs to tell me where that sell that hindsight stuff, I want to get me some. lol.

Hart did not hire Dave Serrano....

I'm aware of that. Mr. Hillbilly tried to suggest otherwise. It explains the type of people we have in our fan base who want to go after the wrong guy. They make things up and throw it against the wall hoping it will stick. If you guys start talking about replacing the real problem such as Susan Martin, then you have my ear.

What they need is an AD with the ability to stand down Cheek. It's obvious that Hart is not that guy. Fulmer could probably get away with that but he and Pat were pretty closely aligned with McWhorter and I'm not sure if he has the right politics to get the job if it came open now.

There was a time when I wanted to see the UTK AD move back to the president's control and maybe that's still the answer but I look at the UAB football situation and think we don't need that here.

I don't think Hart is capable of bringing in a coach who will unite the fanbase. Pearl's success is too recent on the minds of fans. We know what is possible. Best case is probably stick with the interim and spend the next 8 months courting some elite coaches. Another rushed hire followed by cries for patience won't cut it.

The notion that he's sabotaging the program because he went to school at Alabama is one of the 5 most retarded things that gets posted here.
Apart from the lucky call of hiring Butch, he has pretty much carried the baton Hamilton passed to him, in dismantling the UT Athl. Dept. He tried to hire both the Football coach and BB coach on the cheap.

I'm still sore at him for keeping Dooley around for the 2012 season after the debacle in 2011 and the loss to KY for the first time in almost 3 decades. Dooley's staff knew he was toast and 80% of them jumped the sinking ship....but Hart either didn't or ignored it. That meant killing the entire 2012 season.

The Tyndell hire was a mitigated disaster from the start. He was a portly, NO-NAME hire...and Hart figured he could get him on the cheap. We just came off a Sweet 16 appearance, so you cannot tell me we couldn't lure a more established, well-known coach, if the salary was commensurate with the challenge and scope of this program.

I'm with the crowd to reset at the AD job, first...before hiring the next BB HC.

I swear I do not see why some of you people even open up Vol nation everyday. It puzzles me completely. All y'all do is come in here and fuss and complain about stuff that you have no idea of what's goin on. Some of you are in the know yes, I understand that, but you are not the ones I'm directing this to.

Cheek cant get close enough to hand him his termination letter because of all the people standing in line to blow him for hiring CBJ

I don't the public perception was we ran Cuonzo out of town because he was black.

I agree our fan base is fantastic and loyal and wants to win. Those are all good things but when you run a sweet 16 coach out of town and there are rumors of some racial issues that's not good. Listen the national perception of Tennessee is that we are unrealistic. We have been thru what three coaches in the last four years? Great selling point for a big name guy...

So we need to just need to accept the opinion of the ESPN talking heads that TN basketball will never be a consistent top 20 program and just enjoy our 18 win seasons and occasional NCAA berth? Wonder if Florida felt the same way before Billy D arrived? TN had much more basketball heritage before Billy arrived. SMH at all the national media telling Vols what our expectations need to be.

It allows some people to be righteously indignant, and they like that. I don't like the notion that we ran Cuonzo out of town at all. He left for a lateral move. I hate he wasn't happy, but the move was because of his ego and hurt feelings. High level coaches should be stronger than that, but he had an opportunity to leave and he took it.

He had $1.6M contract, a $1M buyout, and more job security than most of us have.

I was told by someone that has strong ties to the AD in January last year, long before the petition, that Cuonzo would take the first job he could to get out of here. He wasn't happy here, didn't care for the way Hart treated him. Felt disrespected when he didn't get an extension the year before. Cuonzo knew this year was going to be rough and he probably wouldn't survive it so he did the smart thing and left when his stock was at it's highest.
