Fire Chaney

Primarily throwing the ball inside the red zone the first three trips there? Seriously?

We have BIG OL players. They couldn't get Eric Gray a hole to get 1 lousy yard? Seriously?

The first series wasn’t good, but he tried to run the other two redzone series. Sometimes I wonder if some of you watch the actual games.

In the second series, Gray ran the first two downs, and we couldn’t pick up 3rd and 3. In the third series, Ty ran it on first down and lost 2 yards.

Vanderbilt was in those last 5 games he started 0 for 8 with a Int. are you serious. He completed 43% vs a bad Vandy
The title of this thread is fire Chaney. I do not believe we should fire our OC. And I do not think any of our QBs are great by any means. But JG was much better his last 5 games of the regular season than he was earlier in the season. No he didn’t play particularly well vs Vandy or Indiana. But for anyone to claim none of our QBs improved throughout the year is not accurate. We did get better QB play later in the season compared to the beginning.

JG has had how many coordinators and qb coaches? Like 7 or 8? Really can’t blame his poor play on Chaney or his good play on Chaney. What you can put on Chaney is the fact we have had wide open players down field all year and a qb who waits to throw it and often time under throws a guy who could catch it in stride for a td.

It's the fact that no QB looks any better today than game one that gets me. He has had a full season with them and they are all bad.

The majority of this season was spent on jg, not the others. Jg got most all of 1st rep snaps in practice all but maybe 2 or 3 games.

He's not real good, but without JG tn doesn't win.

If any of our other qb had been give the time jg has had just this year in spring and fall practice, we would have had a 10 game winning season, and be in contention for sec east next year. Playing jg all year imo has set the program back a year. Lost game time expierence for the back ups

So we have almost a nine-month gestation period to birth the 2020 season. While reflecting during that amount of time, I think two pretty smart guys (Pruitt and Chaney) will come to the conclusion that the best quarterback for the year will be the most consistent one we have. Who will that be? Let the games begin.

I will ad the most consistant in games not practice. It appears jg lights it up in practice but is unable to transfer the practice to game time.

I get it but there’s only so much you can do with a two of a kind hand, besides this is Chaney’s first year with this group, I’m sure JG isn’t being coached to over-throw, throw behind, throw late, or simply miss open receivers. JG just doesn’t have it.

I agree jg just doesn't have it, and it appears most of coaching staff has spent most of their time with him. He took all of the reps with the ones in spring and fall practice, and almost every game we played this year. I still think maurer and shrout will be good, they should have been the starter from the first game of season, and they would have improved dramitacally thougout the season.

Cheney is undeniably a good offensive coordinator. No one calls a perfect game and I thought we were too conservative in the 3rd quarter but players have to make plays. Our QB situation next spring and fall will be fascinating to watch. JG obviously has an advantage but he barely survived as the starter this year. The kid has guts and courage but he may have already reached his ceiling and I’m not sure what else can be done for him to improve. I hope I’m wrong but he seems inconsistent by nature, misses important throws too often, lacks pocket presence, and the most obvious issue..holds onto the ball too long. Tough as nails and seems like a decent leader who has the respect of his peers however so must be a good kid and a VFL.

Maurer, Shrout, and incoming Bailey who comes in early all seemingly have a lot of upside will be right on his heels. Not even mentioning Hill. We have got to find a way to generate more offense and score more points next year to advance another step and compete with Georgia and Florida. I hope JG can pull it off but I wouldn’t put money on it.

Jg can't pull it off. We need to look elsewhere on our roster, we have a lot of potential. I would not count out Holiday. I don't know anything about him as far as passing ability, but if he is just an average passer with his speed he will be hard to defend. He is very very fast. 4.3 in the 40. It's time to move on for jg. He has already graduated, thank him for his service and a vfl, and let him know he probably won't be the starter next year to give him time to transfer should he wish to do that.

You must have watched different games than I did.

Lulz.

You were not aware that jg took all reps with number ones in practice, but maybe 2 or 3 games? I am just saying we don't know what our back ups can do until they get more #1 reps and games.

I don't think this was Chaney's best game, especially the first half red zone. But a lot of that comes back to the players...they have to execute.

I just wish would have ran it down their throats on that first goal line attempt.

I also thought that we didn't utilize our speed on the edges enough to keep their defense from loading up on the middle of the field.

Good plays were called in the redzone. jg just didn't execute,, either ball thrown way too high, or underthrown. The right plays were called jg just didn't execute, the receivers were open just inaccurate throws.

I swear y’all don’t watch the games. All year long JG has had wide open receivers schemed for him. He just refuses to go through his progressions, he just throws to his first read. Coaches can tell him to go through his progressions all they want to, and I’m sure they are, but at the end of the day it’s up to him, and I just think he’s incapable or unwilling of doing so consistently

I've never seen a QB that stares down his one and only target like he does. It's incredible.

All the qbs get the same amount of reps in practice, and all I was saying is that tn does not win last night without JG. I don't think there is a real good qb on the team right now, HB better be the answer or 7 or 8 wins is the best we could hope for.

That is why we have a QB coach on our staff. The OC can’t possibly handle both duties. Chaney has played the hand he was dealt this year. Everyone knew going into this season our QBs were going to struggle.

But if you’ve been watching, Chaney has schemed several TDs. JG just hasn’t thrown to the open man (or missed the throws)

That IS a fact; But---I don't see why we cant RUN THE DAMN BALL! In the red zone?? You better be able to if you plan on winning anything of significance.
