Nice drive by. Sure, I made a post out of frustration with the complete ineptitude of the offense. It’s easy to drive y post on that. But since then I’ve provided hard cold stats and made my case and only ONE person has even bothered to address it. So, you’re post is in fact ignorant.
Candidly, my "drive by" wasn't solely about you but since you responded we can dig into it further since you seem to love digging your own hole deeper.
Hard. Cold. Stats. Is that the name of your YouPorn channel? All you posted was a link to JGs career stats with little to no insight to your point other than our offense sucked this year. You were correct about that; we were not good. You also mention that we won because of improved Defensive play and again we agree.
Where you lose me is by making the jump from poor offensive performance to firing a very good offensive coach. We (nearly) universally agree, quite a feat on VN, that QB play was the absolute limiting factor this year. When we had good production out of our QBs we scored a lot of points. When we got the standard we struggled. The Hard. Cold. Stats. don't support anything other than the only meaningful difference in those stats were his INTs went up by 5 picks or 63%. That is statistically significant.
INTs are a product of poor decision making in most cases. They are also a double whammy because it takes away an opportunity to improve on your Hard. Cold. Stats. JG simply doesn't see the field like a QB. He waits for receivers to get open and is prone to panic throws (likely due to getting obliterated in his previous years). None of our QBs can read defenses worth a darn and that is expected from the Freshmen. JG should know better but, for whatever reason, doesn't anticipate at an SEC level resulting in picks, missed opportunities and a terrible output.
I don't care how good or bad your coaches are the guys on the field have to get it done. Even in the bowl game you could see the open receivers and that we schemed REALLY WELL against IU. JG simply didn't get it done. When the announcers are calling it out it is really bad because they tried hard to talk nice about him.
In closing you didn't post anything meaningful to the conversation you started other than what I consider emotional and ignorant statements. You blindly defended it long after the point was made. I have lost 5min of my life in a vain attempt to explain why I think you are incorrect and why most folks in the thread replied in a non-flattering manner. But we are probably all wrong.....
P.S. I have and always will say I really appreciate JGs commitment and sacrifice to the Vols. He is, by all accounts, a great kid and wish him all the best. He's the best worst QB we've had in a long time.
