Cheney is undeniably a good offensive coordinator. No one calls a perfect game and I thought we were too conservative in the 3rd quarter but players have to make plays. Our QB situation next spring and fall will be fascinating to watch. JG obviously has an advantage but he barely survived as the starter this year. The kid has guts and courage but he may have already reached his ceiling and I’m not sure what else can be done for him to improve. I hope I’m wrong but he seems inconsistent by nature, misses important throws too often, lacks pocket presence, and the most obvious issue..holds onto the ball too long. Tough as nails and seems like a decent leader who has the respect of his peers however so must be a good kid and a VFL.
Maurer, Shrout, and incoming Bailey who comes in early all seemingly have a lot of upside will be right on his heels. Not even mentioning Hill. We have got to find a way to generate more offense and score more points next year to advance another step and compete with Georgia and Florida. I hope JG can pull it off but I wouldn’t put money on it.
Chaney is the reason UGA isn't in the playoffs. Their offensive production is way down this year.
It’s Chaney’s first year and Pruitt’s second. Plus, the OL improved immensely as did the passing game. Is either where we want to be? No. Regardless, Chaney’s year twos are historically good. This guy has not done jack squat with these QBs or this offense. The defense has progressed all year. The offense has stunk it up.
I think it merits much more discussion (lol) and maybe we wait to see who wins the job? Hopefully no-one is going to wrongly claim the competition isn't fair. I don't care who wins it won't hurt my feelings one bit if someone other than JG starts against Charlotte. But it seems like if JG does win it there'll be a lot of sour grapes and whining around here.Well he’s the third oc that hasn’t been able to turn Jg into a good qb. At what point will you choose to see jg as the problem not the coach?
Never said he was great. He’ll never be great. But he was a better QB the last 5 games of the reg season. Not so good tonight though.Guarantano's stats are virtually identical to last year with double the interceptions and 3 percent lower completion percentage. He made the same mistakes tonight that he did last year and earlier this year. Throwing behind guys, bad throws in the red zone, checking down well short of the 1st on 3rd and long, throws into coverage. Maurer came in tonight and looked just like he did in game one. Go back and look at QBs grow under Cutcliffe to see what a true QB coach gets done.
Cheney has been a huge disappointment this season. He's been here for spring practice and for 13 games and the QBs don't look any better than they did on day one. The only difference between this year and last year was the schedule got a lot weaker. That made the defense look better and netted 2 more wins. Incompetence abounds on Rocky Top.
What? Did you have a headset? Believe me Pruitt aint telling Chaney much of any thing play call wise. Unlike Kirby that’s probably why he got out of GA.Here’s the deal with Chaney...he calls a good game with great players. But he is stubborn and will not change when he has less unless forced - which Pruitt did down the stretch. Chaney is why we lost the first two and almost lost tonight. Pruitt needs to keep him on track
I swear y’all don’t watch the games. All year long JG has had wide open receivers schemed for him. He just refuses to go through his progressions, he just throws to his first read. Coaches can tell him to go through his progressions all they want to, and I’m sure they are, but at the end of the day it’s up to him, and I just think he’s incapable or unwilling of doing so consistently
Yeah UGA is lucky they got rid of Chaney. Y’all just turned Fromm loose and things just took off. Kirby didn’t get rid of Chaney, left because Kirby’s a micro manager and they disagreed on a lot. Mark it, Kirby is gonna be y’alls Butch Jones. He's not a great coordinator, as you all saw when he was at Tennessee his first stint. I think he's on the lazy side. At his weight, he can't keep coaching long. I think that's why Kirby didn't try to retain him.
