Again, Barnes' fault. He refused to get in the muck of recruiting, which is fine by me, but that isn't going to change at UCLA. The reason Barnes has had lower rated talent isn't because of UT, but because he made it a point not to recruit in ways that skirt the edges, or go after kids that weren't choir boys.Sure, but at Tennessee it will take 2-3 years to develop a roster to be equipped to contend for a title.
Does he really want to spend 4 of his last 6 years being a bubble status team with hopes of having 1-2 good seasons like the past 2?

UT is NOT a hard place to recruit to. It's not like you are trying to get 20-25 signees a year, and yet he ends up with Drew Pember at this point in his career?
Think about this. The way i see it is he knows he has a less than stellar roster coming back with Bone leaving. He knows he doesn't have a point guard, regardless of how many think James is one. He lost out on Tre Mann, which is who they wanted for the PG. How in the hell, do you offer Pember in the early signing period is beyond me. He may know that Grant is leaning towards leaving. Just lost his top assistant and may lose another. So, he'd be starting over anyway. Why not at a place that is a top 5 historical program. Barnes deserves a ton of credit for what he got out of this roster. The reality is that everyone that was head scratching over his recruiting may be seeing the problem manifest now. There were a lot of things that had to happen. You have a holdover in Admiral who became a gym rat. Local kid, who exceeded his expectations. A very capable scorer who was under recruited because of his height. A legacy PG who developed. When you look at the rest of the roster I don't see that hope. Walker, Johnson and Pons all have failed to impress or shine enough to make anyone get excited. Fulk will compete and if he beefs up will be a player. Turner and Bowden could both provide quality play, but only have one more year. James is the lone standout signee. The rest are very meh.
LA recruiting is crooked as hell.Tennessee in Basketball is definitely tough to recruit to. And to say he wouldn't be able to recruit better at UCLA is hogwash. He wouldn't have to leave the city limits.

UT is not difficult to recruit to. It is within 5 hour drive from multiple metro areas (Atlanta, Charlotte, Birmingham, Indy, Nashville). It's a power 5 job, has top 10 facilities. You are suffering from kicked dog syndrome.
You're a damn fool if you don't think this job would be highly coveted. UT had the 2nd highest paid coach in the conference and 2nd highest paid assistant in the country. FACTS.What coaches will be lined up? Just curious, I’ll hang up and listen
That’s why I asked you and you have yet to give me an answer. Who is lined up to come here? Instead you spit hate vitriol my way. You're a damn fool if you don't think this job would be highly coveted. -Pay
-Practice facility.
-Arena (UT number eight in attendance in the whole country)
-Lockeroom.
-Region.
WTF is wrong with you inferiority complexed people?
Except a lot of those 4/5 stars aren't very coachable and have one foot out of the door from day one. I've said for a long time (and proven wrong, unfortunately) that the future of college basketball is to build a program with coachable 3 stars and add the pieces you need through juco/grad xfers. I still (humbly) believe that.UCLA was able to get five 4-5 stars last year even with Alford on the way out.....
UCLA will always be able to get multiple 4-5 stars to commit year in and year out.
Tennessee will get a 1 or 2 big names every 3-4 years, but for the most part will have to develop the roster over 2-3 years before making major strides.
If you're Barnes and the only thing left to do in your career is win a Natty, you go to the place that is going to pay you and your staff major money while being able to walk out your backdoor to land multiple 4-5 stars every offseason......
Given what he did with Admiral, Grant, Kyle, and Bone, imagine what he could do with multiple top 100 recruits now that he has clearly rejuvenated himself

If Barnes is flying to see 3 stars then he’s an idiot. And if you are only having to travel within an hour drive to do that, it sure beats having to travel all over the South to recruit guys. Especially when you're driving to 4-5 stars vs flying to see 3 stars.
I said, if the job is open. It’s not. I didnt spew any vitriol. I said you’d have to be a fool “IF......,”That’s why I asked you and you have yet to give me an answer. Who is lined up to come here? Instead you spit hate vitriol my way.

Again, UT has been a football power and that’s recruiting 25. B-ball recruiting is a piece of cake.
I also suggest you go take a look at UCLAs roster.
Warning, you’re going to look like a real idiot.
I don’t think their class looks bad. I have no idea because I wasn’t talking about their current class. I’m talking about their roster. There are recruits from New York, Iowa, WV, Indiana, Kansas, Chicago and New Mexico.UCLA had five 4-5 stars in last year's class. As expected, their class for 2019 is basically non existent with one 4 star currently committed.
Funny you think it is shocking that their current class would look bad with a 4 month coaching search being underway and March Madness isn't even over with.

Are you saying they didnt travel extensively to recruit those players? Nice job missing the point.
