Ferguson Riots

Called for it? Walk down there in the middle of it and demand it. Show some leadership and smarts. And some guts to speak the truth and still try to make sure justice is served if it is deserved. People talk about racism all the time but it's all talk on the leaders sides and none of them do anything to stop it. Words are easy.

Hate to say this but it's still true while they preach bout white racism against them but I know for a fact here Memphis some of the black preachers are still preaching racism against Whitey..

I think St. Louis County has been the agency in charge of the police operation and the Governor feels he has to finally respond due to the massive outcry. Not to mention arresting and harassing journalists and arresting an alderman doesn't look good right now. My guess is he orders Missouri Highway Patrol to take over as the lead force.

Thank you.

I was worried the guard would be called in.

So I haven't really followed this story, so my first question is. Did the police really shoot an unarmed kid who was just standing there with his arms in the air?

Still don't know. Eyewitnesses have said that but the officers face was supposedly jacked up. When is the last time somebody said it was all the victims fault and he shouldn't have attacked the person anyway. We may never know what really happened.

Depends on which side of the story you believe.

And right now the cops aren't doing much to dispel the myth they use only the force necessary to get the job done.

As someone who got his undergraduate degree in journalism, and worked in the field for a brief period of time, I am appalled at the state of affairs where both left and right designate activists as "reporters," and have them get personally involved in incidents.

Both do it. I hate it.

100% agree. They try to make a name for themselves or push an agenda as opposed to just reporting.

Sports reporters have become the worst.

He could very well do that at some point, no one knows. All they are saying is he is ordering that agency out. It will be interesting to see how tactics change if MHP takes the lead tonight.

I'm wondering if the Metro Police might move in as well.

From what I can understand, the County Police take care of that area and not the St Louis Metro. But if the Governor is ordering it, it's likely it's going to be State Police.

You did recognize my post as being non-biased in either direction, right? Because police overreaction can also cause normal crowds to resort to violence as well. (race marches of the 50s and 60s for example)

Stop automatically assuming I'm defending the cops in the Ferguson situation. I was replying to LG's post and the last paragraph in particular.

Stop assuming that I'm assuming that about you.

I was mostly responding to your post about while having the right to peacefully assemble, there are trouble makers in the crowd that cause the problems, etc.

In the pictures I posted, I see no trouble makers. Just a few reporters and camera getting tear gas shot at them. I have zero clue why they would be a target. Add to that, a journalist is hauled out of McDonalds for filming?

Like I said, I get what your saying. And I am sure there are trouble makers in the crowds. But its hard to put the blame on the "trouble makers" in this instance when apparently journalists filming by themselves are obviously considered the hooligans by the police, and warrant getting shot with tear gas.

Apparently "Anonymous" has hacked the PD computers & discovered the officers name & plan on divulging his photo & address later. Normally I kinda support some of the the things they do but this isn't one.

Governor confirms that State Police & Feds have relieved St. Louis County of duty. Also ACLU have just sued for the release of the incident report involving Brown and President Obama is set to speak shortly.

Can't hurt at this point. Whether or not the police are actually reacting appropriately, the stories coming out of Ferguson don't look good at all.

Was there any comparison in my post to what's going on in Ferguson? Did I blame anything that's happened so far on "troublemakers?"

Your post was confrontational to a perspective I posted in response to LG's post. And attempted to link what I posted as tacit approval for what's going on in Ferguson. Which is not the case. So yes, you assumed my post was approval for what's going on.

You are no different than the other idiots out there jumping to conclusions without knowing all the facts or doing your homework like that Tweet you posted about. A fifteen second search of the timeline of the Michael Brown shooting would have netted you the fact the Tweet came out well before he was killed. So unless the residents of Ferguson invented time travel and didn't tell anyone, you could and should have determined it to be bogus before posting. And this makes you little different than the troublemakers that are attempting to make this worse than it already is.

Sure it can't hurt at this point but what happens when Missouri Highway Patrol meets crowds unwilling to leave as night sets in like the local police have?
