FBI locks down Pilot HQ?

I have family at a very high positions in Pilot.
FBI raided, took all the computers/phones. Looks bad for all involved, including my extended family on the inside. They warned to not believe the things I read in the news, and they have the best lawyers on the case. They said case could probably will go federal. Either way, lots of people are going to lose their jobs.

"On Monday, federal agents raided Pilot facilities including its headquarters on Lonas Drive. In an affidavit unsealed on Thursday, the government released documents in which recorded conversations and information from unnamed informants were used to allege that certain Pilot employees have conspired and schemed to engage in rebate fraud for many years."

Get used to it, this is how they are going to backdoor fund Oginacare with IRS, ATF and FBI thugs shaking down small business to pay for big government.

Seriously? This has nothing to do with "paying for big government." Read the link I posted. This is a company taking advantage of its customers.

Now it's being reported that the NFL will not ask Haslam to step aside.

During the investigation.

They could after the fact.

If I had saw this thread I wouldn't have posted in the NFL forum. Hopefully a mod can delete it.

Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam III knew of company's fraud scheme, documents say - ESPN

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told the Cleveland Plain Dealer the league has no plans of asking Haslam to step away from the franchise during the investigation.

Could Haslam lose ownership of Browns? - AFC North Blog - ESPN

With the FBI raiding Pilot Flying J's headquarters, what are the chances that Jimmy Haslam won't be the Browns owner in the near future?

That question was posed to ESPN.com legal analyst Lester Munson, who said: "I think that's in the realm of possibility."

My my my. Whatever happened to "personal responsibility?"

Keep blaming everyone else but the skeezballs at Pilot who reveled in screwing small business.

Hope this doesn't affect UT, I wouldn't be proud to be associated with this right now.

Making some "#prayforjimmy" t-shirts and signs to sell at the orange and white game. Judging by the comments on VN I should make bank.

I can tell you Pilot Store Managers were contacted and told this is baseless. Seems like an attack on the Private Sector. Pilot/Flying J tries to buy Fuel in bulk to get the lowest price ! If anything OBAMA is mad that Fuel prices aren't higher thus driving people to his "alternative energy"...just my thoughts. The Haslems are richer than rich but they are all about the blue collar worker ! #bootstraps

How is this a small business and how is this raiding their money because they may have swindled their customers? Are you a masochist who likes being taken advantage of instead of the government investigating possible wrongdoing?

You don't become rich by doing honest business.

"Everyone from the bottom-rung salesman to the vice president of sales and Jimmy Haslam himself knew the code words, according to the records — and saw shorting customers on promised discounts and rebates as nothing more than the cost of doing business. They called it “jacking the discount,” “cost-plussing,” “screwing” and a few less polite terms."

'Liar's poker': Explaining the rebate scheme in Pilot officials' own words » Knoxville News Sentinel

Jimmy Haslam is just as bad if not worse than Kiffin.

Dumb Question:

I assume Bill Haslem has his assets in a blind trust and all but did he ever work for Pilot? No one has brought up his name in this (that I've seen) so I'm sure he is OK - I'm just wondering what his role is/was at Pilot.

He ran it until he became mayor of Knox in 2003. He isn't implicated o my knowledge.

I'm still not sure how this is illegal. Obviously it is unethical. Does anyone know?

Agreed.

So some customers were too stupid to know/keep up with the rebates they were owed.

Unethical? Sure. Worthy of the FBi raiding your place? F#ck no.

This is retarded.

Yes, let's support bad behavior and praise the douche that was the leader of it.

One can operate a very successful business and be honest at the same time.

Some people let money corrupt them. All successful people are not dishonest.

Ok, I shouldn't blanket statement rich people that way but you get the idea. This isn't the first time good ole Jimmy has done this.
