FBI locks down Pilot HQ?

I also heard that a pretty large amount of FBI agents swiftly infiltrated the campus/building, identified themselves, told everyone to back away from their computers up against the wall, and not to touch their cell phones.

Is anyone else worried that Pilot Flying J FBI/IRS investigation might turn up some Vols booster activities.

I don't know why this would consistently get moved from the Vols Football forum.

Pilot Flying J has a lot to do with Tennessee Football. I wouldn't be surprised if something gets forwarded to the NCAA

I can't believe that the Haslams would be incompetent enough to leave a trail of evidence from their company's HQ to anything the NCAA would be interested in, ie recruits.

Wouldn't be the first time....SMU basically did the same thing.

Could be anything up to and including relative to the Boston bombing. In the sense of needing to protect the governors family. We will have to sort this out but it isn't something that happens every day. Could even be tied to an extortion or kidnap plot.

Stay tuned at 11:00

Mmmm yea no! Wtf

Not my area or expertise. But how would pilot be involved in price fixing if that is the reason

I'm hearing that the Federal Trade Commission is involved and this could have something to do with the Flying J purchase. Made Pilot the largest retailer of diesel fuel in the US and in effect created a monopoly.

Prolly jus the gubment tryin to take from the rich and give to the poor.

They had to sell some stores as part of the merger to settle the FTC concerns

Oh, I'm not saying that I think the Haslams are too smart to pay players. I'm saying I'd be shocked if they were such incompetent businessmen that there's a trail of evidence leading back to their family business.

Didn't they find evidence of paying players at a government official's office?

They did. And they've been building new ones nonstop ever since.

Not saying this is what it is, but seems odd for FBI/IRS and possibly FTC to all be involved.

They should overlook any of that. It's obvious we haven't been offering players enough money the past 5 years.

I can tell you Pilot Store Managers were contacted and told this is baseless. Seems like an attack on the Private Sector. Pilot/Flying J tries to buy Fuel in bulk to get the lowest price ! If anything OBAMA is mad that Fuel prices aren't higher thus driving people to his "alternative energy"...just my thoughts. The Haslems are richer than rich but they are all about the blue collar worker ! #bootstraps

I don't remember the details of the SMU scandal. But these days if you were a rich booster who wanted to set up a SMU-style slush fund to pay players, it should be relatively easy to obfuscate where the money came from. Certainly to the point where it wouldn't be intertwined with your main business.

SMU was blatant. They really didn't even try to cover it up. Hell, they actually kept payroll records of what they were paying players.
