Fallout 4

If you guys haven't found out the duplication or the vendor glitch, I recommend at least looking them up. (youtube). The duplication glitch, I only used on power cores and mini nukes so far, but it works with anything that you can drop. The vendor glitch is awesome if you see something you cant afford. I trapped trashcan Carla in Sanctuary and now whenever I need something like adhesive, I'll just vendor glitch her entire load. Randomly, shell disappear and then reappear with a new load.

My character is finally becoming pretty powerful almost 30 hours into the game. Went toe-to-toe with a deathclaw at the bottom of a big building after dealing with a ton of raiders and took him out pretty easily with my heavily modded combat rifle.

I figure I will finish up the game within the next week or so and then not touch it for about a year and let the modders go to work before I revisit it. With Bethesda games, it always results in a completely different experience in terms of difficulty level/combat/loot/gameplay mechanics.

How much different is Skyrim with mods?? Last time I was really into PC game mods it was for BF 1942 =D

I think I've played 25-30 hours at this point and have barely scratched the surface. Just started exploring Boston in earnest tonight on my way to talk to the detective. The library and Trinity Tower were a lot of fun.

Last night I got 2 amazing melee weapons. Took them off of some super mutant somewhere in the east.

"The Ripper" - basically a chainsaw
"Super Sledge" - a giant sledgehammer contraption

I've been using Grognak's Axe. It's in Hubris Comics east of Diamond City. I like running around with a battle axe.

I am still wandering, killing and ranking up. Haven't even really got into the storyline yet. This game is everything I wanted it to be. Best game I have played in years.

I finally met "Swan" after I finished the first part of Freedom Trail. 4 shots to the head with Broadsider (108 DMG) and virtually no damage taken. He, of course, one-hit killed me (several times). I feel like you can get him with explosives if you can keep him on the opposite side of the fence for the entire fight.

I also met him yesterday before I went to work.

I just stood inside the gazebo and whittled him down while chugging Rad-X and RadAway.

The State House might be the hardest dungeon I've found so far.

What level were you at the time? I didn't go looking for him, just stumbled upon him, and I don't think level 16 is when I should be messing around with him.

I think I was 24 or so. I had Strong as my follower to soak up damage and the missile launcher to do damage.

you can handle him, I took him out at level 11. My character is all luck, so 5 critical shots to the face with my best weapon set him down.

came across a random building in the south with two protectrons outside and a US flag flying... looked interested so I approached. As I got close an alarm sounded and I thought "this could be bad..."

A giant lvl 30 bot with dual mini guns popped out of the building an mowed me and Cait down in seconds flat.

Really glad this game allows the player to get in over their head so easily while wandering - makes every encounter more entertaining

Yeah I only go south when I am ready to die. I still don't go down there without a darn good reason.

I have discovered 230 some odd locations. Not remembering how many the last one had I went to google to see if I had found half. nope. 510. seems i am going to have to up my drive by's to find these locations.

It amazes me how the map is smaller, square footage, then some of the other games but there is a lot more stuff in it.

I finally have a formula/check list of things before I get a new settlement.

1. make sure I have excess population elsewhere so that I can move them in
2. make sure I have dumped a lot of resources in my central settlement recently. this usually involves a shopping trip

This way when I get the settlement I can send one of the settlers to establish a supply line to the central settlement. and I also make sure the new settlement has a scavenger bench. Doing this I can fully build up defenses, up to 50 at least, and fully enclose a "base" as well as have various other things up at the time. I try to get at least 5 people in each settlement. seems like a good number that is worth defending and spending time on. and I try to get it done in one go. I hate having to come back time and again as i gather resources.

I do something similar; first thing I do is link a new settlement with my main - usually I'll sacrifice someone from my main to establish a supply link.

I don't fully enclose my bases though - I just build one or two choke points

Hangman's Alley is a fun settlement that I've been trying my hand at. A lot of vertical building.

Also only three entry points into the area.

well fully enclosed does include a gate. I have to get in to build stuff :) and often the gardens are outside the enclosure.

even though it would be fun to take a break from work and fully enclose the area, Life Safety Code be damned. if only it was like the sims and I could drop a deathclaw into fully enclosed settlement and watch them panic. I get tired of keeping people safe insides buildings all the time.
