Fallout 4

The engine is just so flawed that we'll never see anything like that in Fallout or Elder Scrolls. I don't like Oblivion as much as Morrowind or Skyrim but the battle at the great oblivion gate is the closest thing to an epic battle with stakes that I've ever felt in an Elder Scrolls game. And that's kind of sad.

Yup, and that battle damn near locked up my poor Xbox!

I think they're pretty even in terms of DLC. FO3 had real clunkers in Anchorage and Mothership Zeta, but Point Lookout and The Pitt were outstanding. I didn't hate any of NV's (my favorites were Old World Blues and the Zion one), and liked how they were all related to the mythos surrounding your character and the world. Both games are incredible, but I prefer NV because it combined a morally bleak and relatively civilized world with meaningful choice and consequence. I also think Obsidian has the best writers of any studio today. Unfortunately NV was rushed by the publishers just like KOTOR 2 was - if they had a few more months to work on bugs and add the cut content that they intended, I think it would have been something very special.

FO3 just nailed the atmosphere and exploration of a post-apocalyptic world, though. I still don't like how utterly devoid of life the wasteland is in that game considering 200 years had passed, but it seems like they're fixing that in FO4.

I'm totally with you on your last point. Like the NCR has an embassy and barracks but there's still trash all over the floor, file cabinets knocked over on their sides and rusted tin cans everywhere. I get it in certain areas of the game it's going to still look like that or much much worse, but damn how hard is it to sweep that s%#€ up and who after 200 years wouldn't??? Civilization would be back in near full swing at least in certain population concentrated areas.

I played FO1 and FO2 last month for the first time ever. Loved them both. Currently replaying New Vegas and it's amazing to see how many references there are to the original games in it that I missed the first time around.

As for the DLC, I just finished Dead Money and hated it. The Villa has to be the worst location in any Fallout game after the Temple of Trials. About to start Old World Blues, then finish up with Lonesome Road. I really liked Honest Hearts. The Zion setting was pretty cool.

My favorite part of Honest Hearts was the Survivalist logs. Awesome story, and his gun became my primary just because of how cool that guy was.

I couldn't even finish Dead Money the first time. It's still my least favorite even after replaying NV.

I can't get into the gameplay of FO1 and FO2. But love FO3 and New Vegas. But man...FO4 looks like its going to easily be the best one yet. Looks amazing.

I think this is the first place they've shown the perk system.

Eventually getting this for PC. I get being able to game in front of a big screen from the comfort of a couch, but I have yet to upgrade from PS3/XBOX360. I started back playing games on the PC and like how user communities can enhance the games(mods, etc.) Eventually I will have a PC hooked up to the big screen, playing with a 360 controller from the comfort of my couch.

I've been doing this for years. It's a great way to play games. I also have a wireless keyboard and mouse on my coffee table.

Considering the mod community this one might be worth getting first on the PC

I'm intrigued by their claim that mods will be available on consoles. I wonder if certain ones will be selected or if all will be available.

I usually get a PC version of Bethesda games on sale a few years after release because mods give the games new life. I don't buy them on PC first because I'm usually lagging behind by a few years in the PC power department.

They said they wouldn't allow all because of porn mods that would flood the consoles.

In the future a nuvlear war breaks out. People get pushed into underground safety places called Vaults. Each game you emerge from a Vault and travel the wasteland trying to survive. Basically, Elder Scrolls but a futuristic gun-toting game. The stories are nice and the free roam tons-of-quests thing is fun to play.
