Why? That's great news.
Great news that they were found unexploded but upsetting that they were able to be placed near a high security sporting event.
It's a 26.2 mile course along a major thoroughfare in a pretty large city. The roads that make up the course route are not even shut down until around midnight the night before (then, there is a huge and unsponsored midnight bike ride along the course). But, the entire 26.2 miles is not guarded. Now, maybe the finish line ought to be and it might be easy for outside spectators to make such a claim, but then this attack would have just occurred at any point along the route, which is just as crowded.
That's what amazes me. Is that since this is such a popular event, how in the world were the people responsible able to plant those explosives.
Certainly is not what I would consider a "high-security" event. Probably will be in the future, though.
Right, but not nearly as important as the lives saved from the incompetence of the bomber.
