Evan Russell responds to Chipper's rant

Chipper can say whatever the hell he wants about the sport of baseball. He knows more about the sport than everyone on here combined, plus anyone on that 2022 team. There is a reason he hit over .300 from BOTH sides of the plate for his ENTIRE career. You may not agree with what he has to say but whenever that man speaks on baseball everyone shuts the hell up and listens.
Damn. I'm a lifelong Braves fan. I like Chipper. But I'm not putting him on a pedestal. Or should I say peddle stool? And even though he wasn't speaking on us (I'll take him at his word on that), I sure as hell wouldn't pick him over my Vols. Just because he played doesn't mean he's an end all authority on the sport. You can be a great player and still know jack ****. Did people overreact? Sure. But I think you're going a little far yourself with this zealous defense of the guy.

I’ll take Chipper over the Vols. Sorry not sorry 🤷‍♂️

I seriously question one's Vol fandom if they're choosing a retired MLB player on twitter over the Vols. I don't tweet myself. Not sure why grown ass men feel the need to tweet about this or that, other than they overvalue their own opinion. I respect Chipper for what he did as a ball player on a team I love. Doesn't make his opinion any more relevant.

This is correct but fans should know the whole story before ASSUMING that Chipper was directing his comments towards the Vols. Fans jump to conclusions way to fast...

Sure they do. I said they overreacted. But isn't that what twitter is all about? Someone says something, then everyone blows it up.

Social media for me is sitting on the porch, yelling at kids to stay off my grass.

Was your mom a Hooter's waitress?

I wouldn't even take Greg Maddux over my Vols. And I loved me some Greg Maddux.
I’ll take Greg Maddux over the Vols too. I was a Braves fan before a Vols fan so I’m picking the Braves every time and not thinking twice about. Sorry if that ruffles your Yeti hairs.

I’ll listen to a guy that helped mentor and turn Freddie Freeman into the great hitter and respected player he is over anyone else. Chipper loves the sport of baseball and he doesn’t want to see jackass coaches and players turning people away from it.

Like Chipper, you're entitled to your opinion, even if it's wrong.

I mean, the first concern CJ mentioned was UF coach Sully’s handling of the 1 hour change in game time. Does anyone who has watched the video of that think this was acceptable behavior? Looked pretty reprehensible to me.

Yetis notoriously bleed orange. I am a Vol thru-n-thru.
Do they bleed insecurity too? I’m a Vol fan too but I’m a bigger Braves fan. The reason why I love the sport is because I watched that man play from my infancy until I was an adult. So sorry that I have a living sports idol that I try to defend because I literally grew up with him on my television every single day.

My opinion is you care too much what I have to say or else you wouldn’t keep responding to me. So glad for the attention but you’re a little too clingy. I’m not into hairy monstrosities.

Well, in fairness, Chipper should have just been more explicit in his original tweet about who he was referring to and no one would HAVE to assume. His follow up a couple of days later was perfect. He explained EXACTLY who he took issue with and why. If he HAD been watching the Vols he likely would have taken issue with the WF coach more so than any Vols antics. I agree wholeheartedly with everything he said and those it was directed to.

For the last few years most “college teams don’t play the game the right way” blasts have been aimed directly at TN or at least included them in the conversation. Is it “overreacting” to respond to every perceived slight? Absolutely! But it shouldn’t be surprising. People are going to defend their “team” and their “guys” to the end. Whether they are a group some might consider “overly brash” but winners OR retired players from a team’s glory days.

You accuse me of clingy-ness while clinging to Chipper. Truthfully, I've just been playfully jabbing, having some fun. I was an adult when Chipper made it to the bigs so I didn't need him as a role model to guide my life. He's just a dude that played baseball really well to me. Granted, he played for a team I love, but Vols come first for me. Imagine that, this being a Vol board and all. But you do you. I'll stop with the teasing as it seems to be raising your blood pressure.

I don’t think he was wanting to explicitly put individual coaches, players, and programs on blast initially imo. He just wanted to vent his frustrations from what he was seeing on television. He is usually respectful of those that are involved in the game and it would have been out of character for him to completely rail against these guys publicly. I don’t think he realized how much of a reaction it was going to get so he ultimately had to name those coaches and players or else he was going to continue getting peppered by all those fanbases.

My blood pressure stays at a calm 110/70 au naturel no meds required, but thanks for caring about my health. Such a sweetheart you are 😘

Yes, that was bad.

My question...at what point in time was Sully notified of the one-hour delay. That language..

Gators and Sully are quite tired of one another, so I thought he might shuffle over to Miss St,
