Evan Russell responds to Chipper's rant

He is welcome to speak his mind, and people are welcome to express their opinion about his dumb opinion.

I think it’s exhausting to constantly hear whining about the sport of baseball and this purity test it has to pass. College baseball, and baseball in general, has never been more popular and it’s because people are waking up to the idea that it doesn’t have to present itself as holier than any other sport.

I find it ironic that the most popular sport in America is basically one step removed from gladiatorial combat, and that the most people sport in Canada is one that encourages two guys beating the hell out of each other on an ice rink, but we love to make a stink about some kids skipping around the bases or screaming after a big strikeout.
According to our interpretation. Still fuzzy about what SPECIFICALLY he was complaining. To get ourselves riled up assuming it was our team is conducive to those Roman Coliseum hordes.

Don't know much about Chipper (I mean I know who he is and where he played etc but I'm certainly not a Braves fan) but it seemed to be a general statement. I'd prob come down on the side of respecting the game and the opponents more than what we see nowadays too. I know i have a ton of respect for Evan and his family....lets just say he was raised right! The drama that unfolded with Andrew and the WF staff was kinda fun though. It certainly would not have been had he struck out or we lost :). IMO that can be the major issue with taunting, disrespecting, and vilifying your opponent....when you lose it doubles the "grief"...I remember some being disgusted when Norte Dame celebrated on our field in the Super Regionals. 🤷‍♂️

Chipper can say whatever the hell he wants about the sport of baseball. He knows more about the sport than everyone on here combined, plus anyone on that 2022 team. There is a reason he hit over .300 from BOTH sides of the plate for his ENTIRE career. You may not agree with what he has to say but whenever that man speaks on baseball everyone shuts the hell up and listens.

I'm not sure how much of Chipper's rant is directed at us, but like Tony V said in regard to the 2022 team, you may not like us, but you're watching, and it got people talking about college baseball. Regardless, you gotta love Evan Russell though.

Chipper clearly has beef with Shoeless Joe Jackson. Took him a long time to speak out against it, but I hope he feels better after getting that off his chest.

Ga Bulldogs who don’t button their jerseys and bat flip at visitors dugouts. Bunch of punks and clowns.
By failing to be specific about who he was casting shade toward and possible offendng someone, he has offended anyone and that may sense a broad inclusion.

I doubt there will be a clarification…

Chipper always spoke his mind. Nowadays that’s a capital offense. Calm down people.
Actually I was somewhat annoyed that Chipper apparently was too timid to speak his mind and call out Georgia by name. Along with whoever and whatever else he might or might not be referring to. Florida? One would need to make guess. It is only "safe" and "correct" to malign us?

I agree with this part, especially your second paragraph, properly specified. Well said.

Do you KNOW that it was US? Honest question. Others on here have referenced his supposed whine factor as a player…which I don’t recall. I was always annoyed when a player or manager (like Bruce Bochy) would reference a violation of the “unwritten rules of baseball” always when something like a no-hitter being broken up with a bunt or somesuch. Or having to hit the batter who knocked a homer on you or the next batter in their lineup if your player got plunked.

Where I’m at and it’s not (only) because I’m a Braves apologist. There are players from our history I’d call out…like Tom Glavine…who weren’t consistent. Glavine came out during that season lost to the strike.

Clearly not.

I in fact said Chip's remarks were too timid, not over the top. That he left it to anyone else to guess what he was talking about. It made me wonder whether it is only "safe" and "correct" to malign us?

Chipper trying to stay relevant and making a baffon out of himself. Nothing else to see here. WTH is he even talking about?
