Empty Neyland Movement (#uncluttervolnation)

I saw this on twitter today and thought it was a great idea. Instead of some stupid empty Neyland movement, how about you donate your unwanted tickets to local organizations. Let’s give these kids the opportunity to experience Neyland Stadium. Look at this way- Hell, if we don’t, they’re likely to grow up to be Bama fans, and do we really want them to have to suffer like that as adults? :p

While that is nice I don't think people are understanding the meaning of a "Boycott"!

The news on Antone Davis just further makes me push the #EmptyNeyland movement.

Please tell me what is embarrassing about a PASSIONATE FAN BASE not willing to accept the SheetShow Butch is serving up each Saturday? (insert crickets chirping)

Lets all keep showing up, buying concessions, buying hats & shirts, etc so we can keep Butch. GREAT IDEA!! :thud:

um, no.

Jesus I didn't know there was that many. Hopefully some of them are closer to the field so I can take their seats on Saturday.

I'll be shocked if 75,000 people are there at the start. Hyams is saying he thinks it will have an impact and he expects 65,000 there. That's close to 40,000 empty seats. Did you see the stadium for UMass? It was a one possession game in the 4th quarter and there were 50,000+ empty seats.

You're fooling yourself if you don't think there would be a significant impact on season ticket sales if all the people who were upset and not going decided to do as you two suggest and become Alabama or Georgia donors/fans.

None of the tickets are unwanted.

It's a statement being made to the athletic director on being past the point for change.

There is a massive PR push to discredit & distract attention away from the actual statement.

This is classic move when you loose control of a situation.
1. Change the story
2. Tug on heartstrings for charity
3. Paint a evil picture of your opposition

The only argument against the movement at the start was "this hurts the players"

Then it gets leaked the coach is hurting the players.... and it's funny how that argument then disappears to do it for the players.

Now it's on to let's help the children.

Distract, deflect, & discredit.

101 level PR move

Ahah!! It's called being kind jackass not a ****ing pr move 101. I hope you don't have children.

You just made my point.

This movement has "Zero" impact on getting recruits or a great coach or any improvements to the program.

Well Bama fans did it, and look at Bama now....You cant say it hurt their program, can you?

UT can keep doing the same old stuff while we sink further and further into mediocrity. Seems like youre okay with that. No ones stopping you from going to the game. There will be plenty of chances for you to complain about the youngins standing up in front of you. Go enjoy yourself Hubbsie

I suppose I should have said it had no negative impact...it was, however, arguably impactful in sending a mesg to UA admin that the current state of affairs would not be supported.

You people literally disgust me. That is some of the most selfish **** I've ever read in this post. Be lucky enough that you can afford to buy a damn ticket and you would rather burn them, than give them to CHILDREN! The character of some of you people blows me away.

If you don't wanna go then don't. Don't watch the games, whatever I could care less. I'm not traveling from Memphis to Knoxville any more this season not for a movement, but because I don't wanna spend all that money to watch us lose.

This movement of yours will happen without a damn hash tag simply because people don't want to watch losing football. Maybe think about the less fortunate than yourselves and maybe let someone else who can't afford to go enjoy the tickets. Good god this world is **** right now.
Lost me at "you people"

It’s simple, simpleton.

You don’t go to the game to show the AD that we, the fans, have the power. We are the money, therefore we are the power.

It tells them to invest as much as we invest. Hire a good coach and the recruits will be running back to us.

Simple is, Haslam calls the shots, not the boycotting fans etc -- Him and his cronies have way more money than the boycotters put together

the movement has nothing to do with economics or any market.

it's an emotional reaction that makes you think you're involved. that's all.
Fans that decide not to spend their money on tickets or whatever else ARE involved.
Not saying I agree with the 'movement' but if you want to make people in higher positions listen, you hit them where it hurts.
In this case that would be the bank!

No way. It's way more important for adults to act like children than to give something to the children!

If you think that how well Tennessee football is doing is more important than making someone less fortunate's day then you are a sad person.

It's funny how we only think of the less fortunate when we've got better things to do.

I'm sure there was a line forming to give away UT/Florida tickets last September.

Let's give the righteous indignation a rest.

Those "fans" are not going anywhere. For one, you have to assume that they go to the games. I doubt that they are truly fans of this program. They are parasites that want to complain against anyone in authority. At the same time they will proclaim personal greatness if "their" team beats a rival.

We agree that they had "zero" impact.

Young or old, they are ignorant.

Not being a fool does not equate to accepting mediocrity.

No. This is about people saying "I'd rather burn the tickets", etc. If you don't want to go that's fine, but rather then waste your tickets why not make someone's day.

It's not "righteous indignation". It's called not being an d*ck.

Edit: Also, already purchased tickets being wasted does nothing. The admin already got your money lmao

Listen man, it's none of your business what other people do with their tickets. If you are feeling so charitable and want to play secret Santa go to stubhub. Tickets start at 6 bucks and you can feel even more better about yourself.

"Who are you to presume to know my business?"

Do whatever you want with the pets you own, just don't get mad at me when PETA shows up.

I personally know more a dozen long time season ticket holders who posses 100+ combined tickets who aren't going and aren't using their tickets. We are in our late 40s to mid 60s. This isn't just a bunch of young people who aren't ticket holders. Although those young people are the future of the program, as they will eventually graduate and end up as future donors to some program.

I promise you if we make the right hire no one, including recruits, won't give 2 flips about a game against USM with only 60K people there.

Donating tickets to someone else is defeating the point of the whole silent protest some people are planning. It’s not about the money, or kids, or being a Good Samaritan. It’s about showing their disapproval in the current administration the only way they can.
