Thought it would be fun to predict the outcome of the Elite 8 games.

Creighton-South Carolina South Carolina

Texas-Stanford Stanford in a close one

Louisville-Michigan Louisville

NC State-UConn Uconn

Final 4. Louisville, UConn, Stanford, SCar.
Finals. SCar over Stanford.
Since I live near Chattanooga, I respect Wes Moore a lot as a coach and would like to see NCState beat UConn but I think UConn is starting to click as a team.

An interesting story I read about Wes when he was the coach at Maryville. He was in Chattanooga scouting an AAU tournament when Kay Yow happened to come in and sat next to him without knowing who he was. They started talking about basketball and some of the players in the tournament and apparently Kay was pretty impressed with Wes. She ended up telling him she had an assistant job opening and told him to call a certain number if he would like to interview for the job. Which he did. By the way, he is also a Tennessee graduate and Kellie Harper was his assistant at Chattanooga.

Saw an interesting stat during one of the games yesterday concerning the elite 8. Of the 8 tallest teams in the tournament (I think they were referring to starting lineups.), 4 of them were still playing in the tournament. I believe SCar and Stanford are 2 of the taller teams. It caught my eye because I generally focus on the quickness of the guard play.
I think this as well. However, I think that NCST has the personnel and the coaching to beat UConn if they play well. That and the Texas/Stanford games were the only E8 matches that I thought would be competitive.

Just my 2 cents, but I think height is overrated outside of your frontcourt.

Throw my 2 cents in as well to make it 4 because I definitely agree!

I think it was last year or the year before where it seemed as if whatever channel we were playing on couldn’t wait to run the ā€œTallest team in the countryā€ package for our team! šŸ˜©šŸ˜‚ Didn’t get us no where!

I've posted this already but I want UCONN vs Stanford in the final 4

Not me. I don't want Connecticut to go any further. Ever.

That said, months ago I predicted they'd be back in the Final Four and could even win the championship if Bueckers got back at least a couple of weeks before the tourney. I got a bit of a skewering for saying that, with many here insisting, "They're not any good this year! They have no chemistry and will exit the tournament early!"

Well, here we are, at the brink of me being proved right. I do NOT want to be right.

I think the buck stops tonight with NC State. The impressive streak of FFs for UCONN ends.

You really think the Bridgeport refs are going to let that happen?

I sure hope so! But NCSt sure got a raw deal as the one seed having to play in an arena packed with Husky fans who've already shown how much life they give the Connecticut players when they need that boost. No way should the 2-seed have that home-game advantage, but it is what it is -- again.

This is a big reason I give Connecticut the advantage tonight.

For some reason I have a feeling NC State pulls it off this year! Luckily we won’t have to worry about this next year and hopefully going forward.

I think it was 2 seasons ago, when Lou Brown was on the team. Yeah, they were tall, but they sure couldn't score very effectively.

Looks like Paige is fully back.
NCState overall played very well.
Louisville is not getting much love and seems to be the weakest team in the finals.
UConn is playing well now but they are not like some of their elite teams of the past. Excellent backcourt but their front court is questionable.
Stanford is well balanced but Brink reminds me of T Key in that she seems to get into foul trouble a lot.
SCar is tough on defense and not great but good enough to win it all on offense. I still think they are a slight favorite to win. I don’t give Louisville much a chance but there is reason they play the games out so we will see.

I am amazed at how many free throws are being missed in the final few minutes of the games. I guess it is nerves.
