Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I think I built it up too much. I was expecting a revolutionary RPG. It's just an elder scrolls game. I'm sure I'll get into it though I've only put in an hour.

Wait until you actually start exploring, and meeting people. You can easily spend hours doing quests on just a fraction of the map.

I think I'm stuck in the similar slump. just seems like a newer version of Oblivion so far (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). I'm sure it will get better. The map is huge and exploring is fun. those damn bears tear me up though!

Combat is Oblivion-esque until Level 20 when you get some good perks and such. Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood aren't quite as good as Oblivion (still awesome), but the College of Winterhold and The Companions are great. The AI and dialogue are improved, the graphics are amazing, and there is much more to do. It gets better the more you play :)

Level 20.....Just about to wrap up the thieves guild quest. Its pretty lengthy. I've spent about 3 hours on it so far.

I saw a great sign at gameday yesterday. It said "Case Keenum is Dragonborn!"

Level 10 and I've already slain 4 dragons. Booyah.

Of course 2 of them don't really count, because they were scripted events. One was part of the main story line and the other was entering a city and I got lots of help from the guards.

I absolutely get lost in this game. Started playing at 10 last night. I looked at the clock some time later and it was 3:30am!

Just finished the Dark Brotherhood. I enjoyed the plotline a lot, but it lacks the same flavor as Oblivion's, IMO. Although it is home to one of the most annoying yet hilarious characters in video game history.

The thieves guild quest is looooooong. I have been playing it for a long time now and still am not at the end of it. Dwarven ruins are not fun to go through, pretty tough. Fairly interesting storyline for the thieves guild, definitely didn't expect it to take a turn like this.

WTF is the "unusual gem." That's the only reason I'm doing the thieve's guild quest line. Am I going to profit from it, or is it going to be some BS quest objective that nets me no monetary gain. I would also accept it being used to craft a ridiculously powerful weapon.

I'm trying not to google it and ruin it for myself, but I just want to know if it's valuable or not.

Ok, googled anyway. Apparently you have to find all 24 of them, which does not sound like something I want to undertake without a guide....

I don't know how game developers expect you to collect all of them without cheating with a guide, which is no fun...

Yep, not doing that one, unless I get close on accident. I've only found 5. Its a small side quest. Thieves guild quest line is really long though.

Do you guys think it is a bad idea for my guy to be sort of a hybrid character? Do you guys usually use full mage or full warrior perks?

I'm focusing mainly on mage, with light armor and one handed weapons, but I want to max out a few of the more warrior-like perk trees. Smithing, for example, as well as some of the perks for melee combat.

Mage skills, archery, one-handed, sneak, and light armor work well together.
