Drastic action needed on Ebola

Hey look! They're moving the first infected nurse to a facility that is equipped to deal with ebola (they already did this for the 2nd infected nurse). Great idea! I guess it wasn't such a great idea to let the unequipped Dallas hospital handle Patient 0.

On a separate note, it appears that there are only four hospitals in the USA actually equipped to handle ebola patients. That's not good.

Patient 0 should have been immediately transferred.

That hospital will be getting killed on their next WC mod rating.

Contrary to original CDC claims.

The local Dallas judge who has been on quite a bit - I can't recall his name -- was saying this morning that the Dallas hospital can handle four cases, but that ideally he does not want them handling any more than one at a time. He said they have put in place now a procedure whereby, if they have more than one, they plan to send them out to other places.

Makes me wonder then if they are expecting more there in Dallas.

I've seen rumors of this circulating in several places, but nothing I would consider terriby reputable as of yet.

Now there's a study out that suggests up to 12% of people infected actually had an incubation period longer than 21 days.

The news just keeps getting worse.

Yale-New Haven hospital admitted a patient late Wednesday night for evaluation of Ebola-like symptoms who is confirmed to be one of the student researchers who traveled to West Africa recently.

The students originally volunteered to be quarantined for 21 days but after careful consideration, the university said it was unnecessary.

The number of highly educated people making really stupid decisions has been absurd

Lord the stupidity in this thread. I am sure glad none of you are helping in the fight against Ebola. Most of you have no clue what you're talking about. You expect there to be no mistakes. You think everything is supposed to go silky smooth.

The facts are we have never dealt with an outbreak of Ebola like this. There are going to be mistakes. Nobody is perfect. It's going to get a lot worse before it gets better because of the utter stupidity of the African people. You people who are bashing and making fun of the CDC are pathetic. None of you could do any better. You would crap your pants and run like scared little girls if you had to go to Africa or help deal with the Ebola threat.

Any more info on this? My wife just got back from there (Colombus) about 10 days ago.

From what I have read they are trying to quarantine anyone who she met with while there. Looks like she kept a low profile while in ohio and stayed in Akron

At McMom's hostpital (medium sized rural facility) they are in Ebola panic mode. A juvenile pt was getting xrays and tweeted her ID band with a caption "they think I have Ebola". What a special little snow flake. Anyway, the staff and administration are putting protocols in place attempting to identify pts with risk factors as early as possible. She has probably had 3-4 hours of meetings about it this week. More are expected.

When flu season kicks into high gear the ERs will be full of dumbasses in panic mode.
