Drastic action needed on Ebola

So the CDC has gone on and on about ebola being infectious only when symptoms are present. Do we know that to be the case? It appears that some other sources say otherwise:

"Scientists have known that Ebola usually spreads from an infected person to another individual and through contamination in clinics or hospitals. The new finding suggests that some cases may result from healthy carriers. How often is unknown."

And that study is apparently 15 years old. Let's all hope they are wrong.

Wow. I know that correspondence is intended to calm people down, but it kind of has the opposite effect. Damned if you do, and damned if you don't.

Personally, I thought the note was comforting. It's nice to see an organization on top of their game and taking precautions above what is recommended. Given the risk, it seems prudent to be overly cautious.

Contrast that with:
-Ebola is highly unlikely to come to America
-Oops, now it's here... Since Ebola is spread through bodily fluids, it's very difficult to contract.
-Oops, healthcare professionals have contracted it even though they followed CDC protocol. We will now monitor everyone that had contact with patient 0
-Oops, one of the nurses flew to Ohio and now has it, another went on a cruise and is showing symptoms.
-Oops... I'm afraid to guess what the next oops will be.

Wouldn't be surprising. About 25% of the population carry MRSA asymptomatically.

just read on twitter somebody is puking in the parking lot of the Pentagon. ABC7 News reports they closed an entrance to the south parking garage and has HazMat guys out there now.

Sooooooo......I dunno? Spooky stuff.

A lady who just came over from Sierra Leonne. The first four responders will also now have to be quarantined, apparently.

I'm headed to Dallas week after next, so my hopes are this crap is under control. I don't have much faith in the CDC...

Sorry BOT.....

I'd be more worried about what three weeks in Dallas will do to you more than Ebola. That place seriously sucks. Good luck.

for those of us at work without audio... what was the response?

Obama: "let me be clear, the Ebola czar will know when the federal government can sue people who discriminate based on race and use ebola concerns as their cover. Next question."

White House on Ebola Czar: We Weren’t Looking For An Ebola Expert.

To more directly address your question, what we were looking for is not an Ebola expert but rather an ‘implementation expert,’ and that’s exactly what Ron Klain is,” Earnest told the reporter.

Well, Obola and Klain have one thing in common, They both have jobs that they know nothing about.
