Drae Bowles

PJ, you haven't changed a bit. Still making your veiled insults hiding behind your title. Should I go ahead and self report this post? lol

Neither has your inability to separate the post from what it says under my name. Nothing I posted is out of line and could be posted by any other board member.

If you have an issue in sure you know how to get that addressed

Trying to read though this thread has given me a headache as it is so full of inconsistencies. Which is true? Drae Bowles is a person of high character or a person of questionable character? If you believe he is a person of high character, you have to believe he told police the truth and that his grand jury testimony was accurate, which flies in the face of what these allegations claim. If he's a person of questionable character, then what role did he play in all of this? I do know if he's called to testify and his story changes from his grand jury testimony he could be charged with perjury.

And if Drae got assaulted for being a snitch, why wasn't Williams given the same treatment for telling police about Orta's threats? Why wasn't Orta himself given that treatment for telling police about Maggitt's threats? Are we suggesting it was all some great conspiracy by the football team? Seems farfetched to me, but believe what you will.

Orta and Maggitt obviously confronted Bowles if they've admitted to it, but why? Have they ever said why?

This lawsuit doesn't help Drae Bowles any as it clearly suggests he perjured himself.

The irony of this situation is that every single rumor I personally originally heard has turned out to have some basis of truth or at least stays alive.

This is really not that hard to figure out guys.

I predict this doesn't end well for Drae

After 10 minutes of reading this doesn't sound good. Theirs no way coaches didn't know what was going on if these assaults were going on inside the athletic facilities

How anyone could draw conclusions and/or take sides at this point in time is beyond me. Let it play out before assuming. Some of these posts are very premature and ignorant.

Assault is threatening to do bodily harm by Tennessee law. If not committed in the presence of a law enforcement officer, the victim has to prosecute.

Not every lawsuit is unjustified. But yes, some are frivolous. As an outsider, it seemed that the issue was addressed by the administration. AJ never played again. But, this is a very serious allegation and I won't call for it to simply be swept under the rug for the sake of football success. My hope though is that it's handled appropriately and the team has great success. So many obstacles to winning (some self-inflicted).

Lol. Every fan has a stake in how this shakes out.

In a nutshell this lawsuit is seeking monetary damages for the victims. The lawsuit covers a range of violations not relating to rapes. These include under age drinking, disorderly conduct, assault, impersonation and loud music.

Incorrect.

First, no matter what, a private citizen cannot bring criminal charges on their own. It requires state action to prosecute.

Second, threatening to do bodily harm is never enough to trigger assault. Those words have to be accompanied by an action that causes the one being threatened to reasonably fear imminent bodily harm. (Criminal definition)

Civilly, it's just could just be offensive contact. Nonetheless it requires a physical component.

This isn't simply fighting a teammate. It is clearly intimidation of a person doing what he believes to be right. That's not life, that's illegal

I agree, I like UT football has well has anyone but no one should be above the law. Things have a way of getting swept under the rug with athletes and that is wrong. Bravo for Bowles if he was truly standing up for the two victims Bravo!

Suprised it took this long to make it public. Some of us close to the UTC program had heard the basic parts of this story last spring. We had heard that some, don't know which, of the UTK coaches more or less endorsed what happened to Drae.

If true, those coaches should be fired for cause.

I'm not trying to fuel an argument but reading gomocs post made me wonder about the rumor on here about Jancek ousted for off the field issues (AJ was his player). I pray not.

I'd say that's a little bit far of a stretch. Not out of the realm of possibilities, but just...doubtful

Because they don't release the names of sexual assault victims, to keep folks like you from contacting her with your $.02

LOL...so from my post, saying that if AJ did indeed commit this crime then he deserves everything coming to him, you think I want to contact this female?? I believe you should speed your brain up to catch up with your fingers typing.

How many people have contacted AJ or Mike Williams with their 2 cents? Or now, Drae Bowles, Orta, Maggit? I think it should be equal treatment for the accused and the accuser until the process is completed.

Wrong, The individual must start the process. Unlike DV, the state will prosecute rregardless of the victim. Check TCA for assault .

I'm confused....is Bowles part of this lawsuit from a Plantiff standpoint or is he being used as a witness or Exhibit for the Plantiffs?

Someone please clarify.....

Is he like actually scared for his life or was he based on the alleged "assault" or intimidation? If so, did he contact authorities in regards to this alleged threat and if the allegations are true I'm wondering why he would transfer to a university literally down the road from Knoxville?

I can't judge or know the extent of the situation. I'm just trying to understand someone being scared for their life just happens to transfer to a school and town an hour or so from Knoxville....

For anyone questioning how coaches handled this, I would suggest you read Basillio this morning. He presents a much more logical back story that probably is true and makes much more sense. It is what I thought all along just media wants to sensationalize everything to death.

Can you post it here?

39-13-101. Assault.

(a) A person commits assault who:

(1) Intentionally, knowingly or recklessly causes bodily injury to another;

(2) Intentionally or knowingly causes another to reasonably fear imminent bodily injury; or

(3) Intentionally or knowingly causes physical contact with another and a reasonable person would regard the contact as extremely offensive or provocative.

Number 2 requires no physical contact.

I thought I read somewhere were there were text messages making the rendezvous consensual. Seems to me they could retrieve those but I guess a person can say yes until they don't and then allege it was not consensual. I'll just lay back wait for the trial and/or the money to be paid. Just sorry it's ruined so many young lives.

This should be the first post on every page of this thread. There are 42 different and contradictory accounts in this saga. It's weird how some people just go along with whichever narrative they choose.
