With Fulmer, hindsight is 20/20. There was a clear dividing line between what came before the fourth quarter of the 2001 SEC Championship Game and what came after. There's a very good argument that we waited too long with CPF because of his equity from 1998. If we'd made a change after 2005, it might have been a plug-and-play type deal like the Richt-Smartt transition. We could have easily had Butch Davis or Gary Patterson at that point, probably a lot of other top guys as well because we still had the bones of a great program. Having chosen the path we did, I can understand how 8/9 wins a season most years looks really good. We fired CPF to win championships. If we gotta fire a million mofo's to get back to ATL then so be it.
