Doug Mathews says Pruitt has made OC Choice

his contract is up at Georgia this month, and I dont think he's been extended yet....

When does he technically stop working for UGA tho? You’d want your OC to be onboard and free to recruit asap. If we don’t work with them and hold off announcement until after ESD, they could legally stick with the contract’s letter of the law...whenever that expires.

So if there allegedly has been a hire, it’s a state university. So if a contract had been signed then they would have to release it to the public as soon as possible if a freedom of info request was made asking for it.
Just saying for those of you in Knoxville
Eventually. Seems like CJP's contract still had i's and t's needing attention well after his arrival. They can slow walk things.

This morning on his radio show, Coach Mathews said he has been told (most likely by his best friend Fulmer) that Pruitt has his guy who has accepted the job.
But, Mathews said he does not know that name.
Said he doesn’t ask questions like that because he doesn’t want to know things that he can’t use on the air.
Said UT hasn’t made announcement yet “possibly” because the guy is still coaching somewhere else.
He added that this choice has been exclusively Pruitts and that Fulmer and the administration have not interfered.

Take all that with whatever grains of salt you wish. I’m just passing on what I heard.
I hope this is accurate and I hope it is an NFL guy as some have speculated.

However, it does concern me that ADPF isn't taking any credit for the hire or hiring process. It makes me wonder if he knows there's a questionable (to the fanbase) hire about to be announced.

Agree, but as I said coaches do take jobs parallel or not with games left. Agree?

Not within the conference...usually. We’ve only got one ESD under the belt so etiquette and courtesy doesn’t have a track record. I think that’s of more importance than bowl games. Sherrer was a known hire for us, but he was getting a promotion from OLB coach to DC. Chaney leaving within the conference (even if mutually agreed upon) could have a negative perception to recruiting targets. So get this date done with then godspeed is plausible imo.

I believe (and have for a while), Pruitt already has a contract or at minimum a MOU signed and sealed. I also believe our new OC is currently an OC and still coaching either in a college bowl game or the NFL. All these interviews that have been / are being conducted are for future use. Pruitt planning ahead, smart on his part. I am not concerned one bit, think Vol fans are going to be very happy when the hire is revealed. Pruitt knows what he's doing, even though we don't lol.

Yea he coached today......

They are under contract in the NFL with games remaining and are contractually obligated to wait til a certain date before leaving

Or

They haven't notified their current employer

Or

Their buyout drops after a certain date

Or

It's an agreement in principle but details haven't been worked out

Or

Other arrangements with current staff members haven't been finalized

Patience is a virtue. And I thank God daily it's not the only one.

Occam's Razor.

There is no OC yet.

It would have been announced for, at the very least, recruiting purposes with Early Signing Day so close. That is, unless recruits would potentially be uninspired by the choice, friend.

Imo it’s Briles and Lebby coming to coach a position

To me, it seems like Briles will end up at FSU. The quotes out of there indicate that UT wanted Briles to commit this weekend before interviewing at FSU and he wouldn't do that. The FSU people seem to think they have him.

If Jones was in Knoxville recruiting for Bama, then that would mean he has been given a coaching role at Bama otherwise an offensive QC hire couldn’t recruit
I assume that Locksley has been pulled from recruiting since he took the Maryland job. That opens up a spot for another coach to go on the road to recruit. That’s the only reason Butch is recruiting
