Dormady's playing time.

While I don't believe there is a "quarterback controversy", I have posted earlier that I want to see Dormady get game reps that mean something, not just handing the ball off to the backs when the game has been decided.

But I would suggest that Butch has conditioned Vol fans to expect more from Dormady. Remember in 2014 when he would not name a quarterback and everyone wanted Ferguson? Butch would never say anything encouraging about a quarterback, just that all were learning or something like that, never gave anyone individual praise. Well, this year is different, he has praised Dormady many time, effusively, and named him the 2nd quarterback publicly early on. Lately he has said he will get "meaningful snaps".

My point is that Butch has raised the expectations and Dormady showed a lot of promise in the spring game. He does need to get live reps in a game when it counts.

If anyone listened to Vol Calls, through the muck of highly screened questions, it seems Butch might have at least cracked the door. We're definitely going to see Dormady Saturday. Will be interesting to see how much.

I'd guess 20-30 minutes with Jones possibly getting a look unless they want to redshirt him this year

That doesn't really qualify as a QB controversy does it?

I do want to see QD get the chance to make all the throws just to see how he looks. Although I'm sure if it's garbage time, debord will run the ball 90% of the time.

I was thinking the same thing after a recent Jones tweet. Like he was setting the stage. Now I think this thing is still all Dobbs but this could get interesting. Dormady made a few good long tosses in camp...

We need a deep threat if teams start stacking the box! Not sure Dobbs is that kinda guy frankly. Can't remember last time he threw a good deep ball. I know he knows the X's and O's but sub brained Bray proved a big arm with touch is powerful too:)

No different than any other game. The idea is always to be comfortably ahead so back-ups can gain experience.

I think Dobbs sitting in the pocket so much hurt him. Where was our scramblingfor15yards QB at we've all come.to know?

As much as I would love to have a big tall guy slinging the ball downfield to North and company, right now with our O-line being swiss cheese at the sign of any blitz we have to have dobbs in the game, if nothing else for his ability to avoid the sacks.

Agree. Dobbs can probably dodge bullets best. Maybe Dormady can see the WRs best and get the ball out quickly.

What we need is a QB able to make quick pre-snap reads and deliver the ball quickly and on target.

It's been illustrated the Dobbs elusiveness is somewhat overblown. It's also fact that Dormady's 40 was on par with Dobbs as a freshman, and his shuttle time was regarded as "elite". I'm not sure where the assumption came from that he is unable to avoid a sack.

The best thing I can say about Dobbs is that the team likes, and believes in him. They will follow him, for now, and that's important. He possesses a leadership quality, if not the mechanical qualities, that we need in a starting QB. I'm not sure it's yet time for a QB controversy.

He was the first caller on the post-game call-in show on Saturday, but I don't remember what he said. Jerry from Bull's Gap also called in, as did what's-her-name from Nolensville. It was like a pantheon of Vol Callers.

Top 5 improvements I need to see this weekend.

1. Being aggressive. In the words of Marcus spears keep yo foot on the gas.

2. A level offense*

3.true SEC play calling, not that crap from last weekend Debord.

4.fast up tempo running game.

5. "The Dobbs connection" w/ receivers down field. UT 35 - WCU 10.

Agree. No controversy. I would much rather get two years out of Dobbs and let him start a trend of upperclassmen starting quarterbacks.
