Dormady's playing time.

Nothing that you've quoted from BUTCH JONES supports your wild conjecture that Dobbs is on a short leash. It does show faith in his BACKUP QB and addresses what is needed to develop him. Pretty standard stuff.

I never said Dobbs was on a short leash....please show me where I did. I don't believe he is. At most, one could surmise a willingness to play both QB's should the need arise. But mostly it seems that he will look for opportunities to get QD in the game. That's all.

None of this is what I asked for and not even close to what you promised. Where are the quotes FROM THE COACHES where they said that Riley would have started over Dobbs? I wasn't asking Sallee's opinion...good writer but his OPINION isn't what you promised. Come back when you've completed your assignment. :pardon:

The Tweet is quoting Jones. My assertion earlier, from what coaches said last spring, and what was alluded to after Riley left is that he was in position to start for Worley in 13, but could not due to a stress fracture, and that he was battling for the starting job in the spring of 14 with Worley. The Sallee article alludes to what Jones said on the matter.
He didn't win the starting job, we now know, because of attitude issues. He thought it should have been handed to him.

We are in a great qb situation. Dormady may never even start a game here we are so deep.

Dormady's very much a part of that depth and is next in line after Dobbs in 2017. Given that the coaches have raved about the kid, it's gonna be damn difficult for Sheriron and the other young uns to leapfrog him. Either way, our QB situation is great going forward.

The quotes you posted were from Sallee. He wasn't quoting Butch...that was his TAKE. Neither here nor there...you're right in that if Ferguson had won out he would have folded...Peterman like in his mental makeup. As Dobbs is clearly not...correct?

The quotes I posted were Jones own words on Twitter, and what information Sallee ( and others at the time ) garnered from thing Jones said. I'm pretty sure I could quote Jesus Christ and you would take issue with the source.

Could you please, I'm begging, point out to me where I asserted there was a QB controversy, and address what "wild scenario" I envisioned, or admit a mistake? If not, I get it. We can be done. If you do, well.....new found respect.

This part was...the rest was all Sallee.

JONES (on QBs):We are balancing repetitions. Justin & Riley have taken more reps and they will continue to. Nate & Josh continue to progress

Guess I got you confused with Nationdom on the other though you using a Gestapo reference to anyone defending Dobbs doesn't paint you as rational.

Incorrectly attributing quotes, shouty caps, and emojis make you seem super level-headed.

I'm sorry your sensitive to words with historical context.

I guess that's as close to a concession as I'm going to get. Thanks. No doubt you're super fun at parties and family get-togethers.

You'd be surprised. "Historical context" is a particularly salient point for you. Somebody supports Dobbs and they're the equivalent of soulless instruments of an insane dictator. And critics of Dobbs are innocent Jews herded up and shipped off to death camps. Forget my parties...yours sounds like real hootenannies. :w00t: As far as concession goes, I thought that you had a stance and I was wrong about that. Still seems like you're reaching for Dobbs replacement before he needs one...but that's just a vibe...like Barrett Sallee's. :hi:

Dormady needs to play this year because the next two classes include elite QB commitments. He should get a lot of mop-up duty after Dobbs lays waste to some opponents.

He should get a little pt just in case Dobbs is hurt. It should have nothing to do with who is coming. We need him to play less really, knowing we have another just as talented fr qb redshirting and just as talented, or more talented qbs coming in the next few years. We most likely have Dobbs back next year with QD, Jones, and Gurantano also.

Nah...he should play as much as the score warrants. Still not many games where that's feasible, but if Dobbs plays 3 quarters in the Western Carolina and North Texas then we're being foolhardy.

As you are someone who slings a good deal of poo on this board, perhaps your meter is stuck on "way too serious" in regards to the Gestapo quip. You're looking for a reason to be offended.

I was not attacking Dobbs supporters for being Dobbs supporters. I was remarking as to how some Dobbs supporters treat anyone who questions his accuracy, or remarks positively about Dormady.

At this time I would like to reiterate that Dobbs needs to be the starting QB. His experience and leadership are invaluable to having a good season. You've not seen me say anything outside of that, other than expressing an opinion in regards to accuracy, and the positive way that the coaches spoken of QD.

I agree. I don't think we need to force him to get extra pt for the future though. He needs to play as the game dictates to be ready to come in this season in an emergency. Being here for spring, and being a coach's son has he further than most true fr I think.

Yeah...Nazi humor is the shiznit! Carry on Goebbels. KB and I are two off the top of my head, that have defended BOTH Dobbs and Dormady ...AND Worley in the past. On another thread I can't get a concession from Hialeah Gator that McElwain screwed the pooch in waving goodbye to Sheriron Jones...so...in effect I don't disparage one Vol for the benefit of another, and can't relate to those that do. When you get a little nasty because "some" Dobbs supporters get rude and equally nasty, you get a little collateral damage. Maybe be specific with the posters in question...we know who they are. I'm a Dobbs supporter and a Dormady supporter a Jones supporter...you get the theme. :)

Yeah...you're a peach. I see what you mean about not disparaging one Vol for another.

In the dictionary under irony it says, "see:irony".

So we're fellow Vols? Part of a brotherhood? We disagree on this subject. You've gone personal but IRONICALLY I love peaches. Stay strong...it gets better. :wink2:

The whole "Dormady needs early reps, he's earned early reps" thing is overblown, IMO. I'd be surprised if we saw him before the 3rd quarter. Dobbs probably gets the first drive or two to start things off in the second half unless we're salting the earth in Nashville.

The 3rd quarter is still early for a backup, but I imagine we'll have a lot of backups in by the 3rd quarter.

I'm good. This is all digital, its not personal to me.

Go listen to the press conference. That was not what Butch was saying....but it doesn't really matter.

Good grief.

Wow Dormady got in there super early in the game, didnt he? It was all coach speak, just meaning Dormady will get some time but not any meaningful time in a game. And they didnt even trust him to throw the ball. He got one shot at a throw and he looked like he was trying to throw a hot potatoe, like he was scared(sorta like a freshman qb). Point is hes not ready to lead this offense so i pray to God that Dobbs doesnt get hurt, because we will be in serious trouble. On the bright side he did run the ball decent but he still isnt ready to take the reigns. He is no more ready for an SEC defense than any other freshman qb. Hopefully the over hype will fade(no just you but the people who are calling him the next great qb). And other than 2 passes Dobbs looked good, if the receivers would catch the ball.

He hit the receiver in the hands...should have aimed at his dingus.

He rushed the throw and while it may have hit the receiver in the hands it was low. He just didnt look comfortable in that play. It was one throw so hopefully he will get better and feel more comfortable. Just wanted to highlight he is a freshman and not ready to take the reigns of this offense yet. Boro swore he would play early and thats exactly what butch said. But like most of the other coach speak, butch meant early in the season not early in the game. On the bright side he looked great in the run game very good for a true freshman who isnt a good fit for this offense (just kidding boro).

Yeah it was a drop. He had looked real effective running in available practice videos...you never really know how that translates on the field. Best thing you can say about him is that he had Dobbs like composure. :)
