Dormady's playing time.

I think I said I didn't buy the 4.23 didn't I Richard? You have followed me around like a lost puppy for weeks now. Whats the fascination? Low hangers or just not a damn thing to do in Elm Hill? First of the month will be here soon enough and the mailman will run I promise. Just relax and wait for it.

While you are waiting.....

Looking Back: Terrell Owens
"I was just feeling really good that day and thought I'd see how far along I'd come," Owens said following his sensational 40-yard-dash, electronically clocked in a record 4.19 seconds at a speed camp in Berkeley, CA, on what is considered a "slow track". Owens, who broke his own record for the track of 4.33 seconds set several months earlier, had recently defeated rookie 49ers wide receiver Michael Jennings, a former Florida State track star, in an impromptu 40-yard-dash in Osaka, Japan. He decided the time was right to see just how fast he had become.

Owens had trained hard all off-season long in both 2001 and 2002, putting primary focus on improving his speed.

"It's not that I wasn't already fast," said Owens, "It's just that I knew I could get much faster if I really concentrated my efforts on improving the performance of my fast-twitch muscle fibers. I'd already come a long way, but I could really feel my body starting to change into one that could do special things from an explosion standpoint, so I decided to see how far I could take it."

The results were breathtaking, as Owens followed up his awk-inspiring display in defeating an elite track athlete by running what is believed to be the fastest legitimate 40-yard-dash time in NFL history.

"To be honest, I thought I could have run a little better," said Owens afterward, "I had run a 4.33 on this track immediately following the 2001 season, and that was against the wind, and Mike (Jennings) had been hand-timed in the 4.19 to 4.21 range before, so I thought I had a chance at getting under 4.1. But I ain't complaining."

Since Owens's run in 2002, no athlete has run better than 4.39 on this surface.

Didn't know they held the NFL Combine in Berkley,CA...and he bested the mythical Bo Jackson time to boot! Wait a minute! This was 2002...I specifically asked for his 96 Combine time...still going with 4.7 until you get me something valid...blogs don't count...this sounds like a blog...

It was a blog...wasn't it? :)

You "think you said"? Losing touch...Mortimer? :). Just reach into your big bad internet and get me a valid time ...no speculation or "must have beens because of this's" and I'll abandon my memory of it. Not sure why you've let this upset you so much... I made a general comment about a player's (not Dormady's) combine 40 and you're all a kilter...I'm here to help...Phillip. :)

I'm not on kilter Butchna just crazy how people like you throw **** out that's not true and know it's not true but don't care. That's all. Now I leave you alone and you leave me alone. Fair enough?

Maybe...were there blogs in 2002? Still better then you got. TO runs a 4.45 at age 38 but a 4.7 at his NFL combine in 1996 and still gets drafted 3rd round out of UTC? Convince me that's even possible.

BTW, why do you keep doing the big grin thing? It's creepy

I don't know that what I explicitly remember is "not true". You've done a very poor job in convincing me otherwise. I'm going to keep posting on here and if I disagree with you I'm going to post it. You probably shouldn't be alone tho. :)

Your whole reasoning is that he ran a a 4.4 for a ESPN reality show so he couldn't have had a slow time at his combine in 96? Sounds a little naive. :)

I know what I'm doing with the :)

I don't need to convince you because you are wrong. Hell I'm 53 210 lbs and can run a 4.7. I'm thinking TO could do better in 1996 but fair enough game on. This should be good.................

I don't believe you...you're pushing 300...easy. :) maybe a 4.7 10...when you were around 250. :)

"Dormandy" will never be on the field.

Well i do not see why you think Dormady will never see the field,he should get snaps in all the non conference games except the game vr Oklahoma. He needs alot of real game snaps incase god forbid Dobbs gets hurt.Anyone who doesn't want him to see him get on field for a bunch of snaps and hopefully some will be meaningful snaps well as meaningful as possible without taking too many from Dobbs .With the number of QB that have been hurt in rescent years.I want dobbs to play as much as he can so he can get better but im hoping Dormady gets to attempt 50plus so we can make sure he is better than worley and peterman which wouldnt take alot to be better than peterman he is to Vols football as john snodgrass is to basketball,Go Vols!

I want to get your opinions on this. I think there is a possibility that Dormady gets thrown into some games. I am talking a couple of series a game. He is fast and could bring a different element to our offense. He is more of a deep ball thrower and tends to run downhill more than Dobbs. This is absolutely not a knock on Dobbs. I think Dobbs will have a good season. Dormady just may be too good to stay off the field. Go Vols!

Dobbs gone for year after Oklahoma:( Just like tOSU last year, we will not miss a beat with Dormandy

Thread title really should include a reference to T.O.'s forty times.

I think Dobbs will take another step forward this season and for the first time in a long time we won't hear post game radio filled with questions about backup quarterbacks.

It's unfortunate SeahawkVol94 screwed the pooch on this one.

Not sure we will ever get away from backup QB talk though. It's just part of football.

For what its worth, I work with a young GT engineer that was on GT's track team. He actually outran Calvin Johnson. He was also quick to point out that it was on a track surface with track shoes and shorts. He said in cleats, football gear, on grass he had no chance. He also said that he hit stride and slowed at about 50 yds. and Calvin could run full steam all the way to Gwinett.

but could he outrun Nathan Cottrell? Seriously there is a huge difference between track speed and football speed. Interesting post for sure. Thanks
