Let me take a wild guess who was the coach when we last played Tennessee football... Fulmer? I'm at the point right now where i actually wouldn't mind him coming back. Sad, but true.
I don't know about the probation... that investigation was cleared.
What I do know, though, is that Kiffin's teams had far, far more on-the-field character than any team Dooley has shown us--and that's supposed to be CDD's calling card.
Character means you don't let some other team come into your house and beat you into quitting in front of 100k+ of your most loyal fans.
Dooley is the coach and rightfully take the heat for the performance, but don't give the players free passes either. Justin Hunter dropped 2 key 3rd down passes. Bray's 2 INT's and no FLA TO's. Bray's intentional grounding came when we could've went up 2 scores. Numerous false start penalties. Teague should have push the runner out on the TD run. If CP catches the ball we have the long TD. Fla made the plays and we didn't. I could go on, but hold the players as well for folding after the 5:30 mark of the 3rd.
Kiffin's only year in Knoxville will end up better than Dooley's third.
And, the team had swagger... and believed it was only a matter of time before we beat Meyer at UF and Saban at Bama. I beleived that was our trajectory as well--and that the bowl game was just good fun after finishing the season well enough for recruiting (it wasn't a BCS bowl, but still far more than we'll see with Dooley).
Was really hard to watch the meltdown. Still not sure how it happened.
Dooleyed, verb, to be beaten like a woodshed drum in the second half of ballgames.
