Don't get hyped!

Okay so, my expectations this season were 4 wins. I mean honestly...Jones left a disaster/worst season in the history of TN football. With what Pruitt is doing this season, there is no reason not to be hyped about next season. Right now we can finish with a top 10 recruiting class, potential bowl game, and they (Pruitt and Co) are really doing a great job coaching the players. So we should all be hyped for next season, because with the coaching staff we have on board, the playing time of these young players, the recruiting were having, it is an improvement from the last 2 coaches. GO VOLS!

Honestly, I thought we'd be better than we've been. At least record wise. I thought this team had more talent than what showed last season and I thought better coaching would result in about a two game swing. 8-4 is what I thought this team was capable of but we're going to come up just short of that.
But, we are right where we should be record-wise though...right? I mean we thought we would beat UF, but we didn't imagine ever beating Auburn, so that's a trade. We have won 5 and will probably lose to Missouri and beat Vandy for a 6 win season. Yeah, we should have whipped Charlotte and El Paso, but we didn't for whatever reason. Record-wise though aren't we right where most people thought we'd be?

If we win out then there will be tons of hype in the off season. Don't believe in it!! We are still 2 to 4 years away from recuriting the players we need to actually be in the same state much less the same zip code as the likes of Bama or Clemson. It's gonna take several years just be patient and let CJP recruit his players for a few more seasons before we hype up this team.
Ok Flavor Flav. I’m hyped now and I’m gonna be hyped everytime we win any game. And in the off season I’m gonna be hyped for the upcoming season cause I know we’ll be competitive in 90% of our games.

People got lathered up after we beat Auburn. The fanbase is starved for results. It is a deal where we probably need to tone it down a little. This team has been inconsistent, usually the case with first year staffs and players trying to adapt. It is what it is. Win one of the 2 we're going bowling. I just hope we get that. Get both and Jeremy is going to find out real quick he's in a place that expects results just like where he came from. Thing is , i think this guy can handle it.

I agree. The hype would be ridiculous. But I'd say it would be great for recruiting. It would allow Pruitt to sell a vision. But yes...bama is on a level all by them selves and Clemson is on a second level all by themselves. We could only hope and pray we'll get there. We'd need a lot tongo our way over the next 3 or 4 years to get there. We'd need some special recruits which would require some luck to get them to sign initially and then that they would pan out. So many of our recruits haven't panned out either because they were overrated or injury prone. I believe saban got some of those lucky breaks within his first couple of years with guys like Julio jones, Dante Hightower, and others...but once we got on top it's pretty smooth sailing.

Clemson pouches our players, plays in a weak azz conference. This year's Bama team with a healthy Tua would embarrass them. It is what it is. Bama really is stinking up college football.

I think improvement is seen across the board. We definitely let the USC win slip away but even in that loss many believe that officiating played a big factor and we played well in a hostile environment vs a quality Sr laden team. We played Bama well in spots, Ga was a game going into the 4th quarter and we played a decent 1st half in CJPs 1st game ever. Lots to be hyped about!

I think you shouldn't get hyped. We could recruit for 10 years and never get close to what Bama is doing.
I’m calling BS on that. Lots of things can change in 10 years. Even if you are right that won’t keep us from being in the top 10 every year where we belong. I guess I’m like my dog. He can’t vote but he likes to hang around the poles.

I'm not sure how you look at the schedule we played this year and saw 8-4. Where was that extra win? If you had asked me to go game for game before the season started, I would have probably picked AU as as loss and USCe as a win. Otherwise, the team is pretty much right where I thought they would be if they played as well as they are capable of playing.

I believe they will win at least one of the last two games. If they win both, that will be a very exciting ending to the regular season, and it will be hard not to feel good about the upcoming season.

Right now I don't even care about Alabama. We don't play Clemson, so don't really care about them either. I just want to get back to the point where we expect to beat the teams that we're supposed to beat. When we reach that point, then I'll worry about competing with Alabama, Georgia, Florida.

Even if we split the last two, the fact we picked off Auburn in the middle of that brutal stretch and we've seen actual improvement in our defense is reason for being optimistic......but not delusional. The dividends are starting to show from good coaching, but we still need VAST improvement on the O Line. If we happen to pull off the last two games with this bunch, then Pruitt has to be considered for COY in the SEC.
