Don't defend the indefensible

No need to be obtuse. Go back to the OP and refute a single word of what was said

It has been said numerous times already by many people. So just because he/her is an another team’s fan his/her opinion should have more seriously?

Guess I might as well sell my tickets in Q34 that have been in the family since Kennedy was in office and start wearing Jorts . I have no clue what your point is ..... and spoiler alert , neither do you .

Wrong. No need to be talked down to by a fan of another team who believes his opinion is relevant. He would offer nothing if we won. There's a reason for that
99gator doesn't need me to defend him. However, if this is the same poster from the old govols.com comment section, every interaction I've had with him has been respectful, engaging, insightful and honest. We may cheer for different teams, and I hate gators with a passion, but from my experience, this guy is not just here to rub our noses in it. I truly believe he would love to see us return to our former glory and be a worthy rival again.

Hell no. Tonight’s “effort “ was putrid from the time the team got on the bus. I don’t give a damn who says it . If it walks and quacks like a duck then it’s definetly not a turtle

This game sucked no doubt..... still doesn’t change anything..... have to flip the roster and build depth

Actually it changes a lot. 1) tougher sell to recruits 2) will undoubtedly hurt tix sales/excitement next year. 3) breaks another terrible record for the program (0-3 against vandy).

I know a few guys who are walk-ons on the team, and they said quite a few players were dreading having to play in a bowl game and extending the season with more practices. A lot of the players just aren’t big fans of CJP or his personality.

Hard work has a habit of making lazy people uncomfortable.

College football isn't what it used to be. I have forever been a college football fan over a professional team. The NFL playoffs reminded me more of college than any other time of the season. But something has changed.

Due to the $ flowing to all parties in the NFL, HS players don't necessarily care who they play for - just play for someone that has a track record of getting folks in the NFL. They even make commitment choices based on position coaches. You'll find players who "bleed Orange", but more than likely they'll bleed the color they need to for the moment (like so many coaches).

Now, another factor has come into play - "playing life". A really good player knows he must leave after his junior year so as to not waste any of his "playing life" for a senior (non-paid) year at a university. If he's also lucky, he can red-shirt his Freshman year and not sustain any "mileage" on his body - thus extending his "playing life" into the future.

So how do bowl games fit in? If you're concerned about mileage, then a "crap" bowl game which means virtually nothing -----means virtually nothing. Much risk with injury and no up$ide (to speak of). So if I'm a player whose been beat up since my 11th grade and I'm now a college junior who remains beat up....do I want to go out and play in the freezing cold Liberty Bowl against a 7-5 team which means nothing? Probably not. ESPN's "final four" of college football is practically killing the motivation of players as it pertains to the vast majority of bowl games.

Thanks to E$PN, college football is a business....a multi-billion dollar business. The players have learned the business of it and are taking care of themselves. Thus you get the kind of performance you got from UT tonight.

I’m seeing a lot of stuff being written and I’m shaking my head.

Anyone who thought before the season that Tennessee did not have the personnel on campus to avoid getting hammered by Vanderbilt is not being truthful. I know those are fighting words, but it is what it is.

There is NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE, who thought before the year, Vandy is just too good. Tennessee’s going to lose, that’s a given. Tennessee has absolutely no chance. I just hope we don’t get killed.

No one came close to having that thought.

The team I saw today did not bother to play with any effort. Period. Point blank. End of story. Next case.

And you’re darn right, that’s on the coaches. You’ve lost two in a row to Vandy. You’re trying to get to a bowl. You’re trying to end on a good note, so that the season has a positive vibe about it. And you go out and do that.

Don’t give me the talent rationale. One of the reasons Pruitt got emotional after the Georgia game is because the team went out and laid it on the line and played hard for 4 quarters. The end result wasn’t what anyone wanted, but they busted their tails.

They were completely uninterested in this one and that’s a reflection on everybody, including the coaches. Players who care about their coaches don't do that.

The people that are trying to tell everyone that Vandy simply has more talent are the same people that before the UF game said we'd beat them because we had more talent and because Pruitt is a better coach than Mullen.

I have seen orange shoots of recovery all season. But the shoots are the most vulnerable and have to be tended and nurtured well to grow. All week I castigated the notion that Vandy was suddenly Alabama North, that they were some unstoppable juggernaut. I thought the culture was completely broken when Pruitt arrived. Unfortunately, losing to Vandy in this manner suggests we still have major cultural problems in the dressing room. Tonight also means it will be harder to recruit the young men who can make it better.

We're not talking about winning or losing. We're talking about competing.

They didn't compete, IMO.
The team didn't compete because they aren't a very good team right now. They are soft and dont match-up talent wise with the rest of the SEC.
