Nobody has crowned anyone. We are talking about the game and how the team looked.
Don't go full drama queen.
Agree.... That game was all downside for CDD. Win, and he was supposed to win so it was no big deal.. Lose, and the lynchmob would have started forming.
That's fine, but did you watch the game and not see a different attitude?
Like I said too, we will see.
It is odd that you like Pittsburghs hire and Chryst, and he loses to youngstown state. Double standard, imo, in regards to how you reacted to a DD bad loss and wouldve reacted with a loss Friday.
It was 22-14 at half with a huge turnover against us. The game was over at the third, but far from over in the first half.
Does the domination of NCST, a good team with a very good qb and one of the best db's in the NCAA by several of the "experts" give Dooley the win that finally brings him respect of the Volnation ?
I think it was a great win. TN looks the part of being a good football team for the first time in several years.
I also think our coaching staff is a major upgrade over last years staff.
I feel good about the program again. I give credit to Coach Dooley. He has brought integrity back to TN. I hope he has major success and our coach for many years to come.
GBO .
OP begging for respect after wins over ncsu suggests otherwise. I'm all for talking about the game and how good we looked. That, however, was not the intent of this thread.
I agree with you. Hope Dooley is here for 20 plus years. If people knew football they would know he is a good coach. Even Nick Saban could not take the talent we have had the last few years and win with it. Dooley took the job when no one else wanted it. Because they knew we were a mess and they didn't want to take the time to rebuild us like Dooley has.
I thought we had control of the game, but I wouldn't say by much.
oh well. Doesn't matter.
Didn't say it was over. We controlled the end of the first quarter, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters, and stepped off the gas in the process. That's controlling the game. Has nothing to do with it being over or not.
We didn't control the game. We outscored them, not control it. If you want to control the game, you run the football well. We had two rushes that ended up being half of our yards, and outside of those two rushes, we averaged 2.87 per carry. Sure, we had the ball longer, but that was because of their 4 INTs, versus being able to do what we wanted at will. Dominating the game would have meant the game was truly over before the first quarter ended.
Also, for this team to succeed, we need to stay on the throttle the entire game. Fulmer ball led to a lot of bad things over the years, so I want to have them play aggressively until the end.
I love the fact that we won, but we did so by three big plays, not sustaining and executing drives. Really good defensive teams will keep us in front of them, and severely limit those big plays, and that's where effective RBs mean the most in the SEC.
If Dooley wanted to, UT could have thrown it 55 times and won by 35. They basically stopped passing in the 4th quarter. I don't think we dominated, but I think this is a negative viewpoint.

Exactly. We never really relinquished control to our opponent and did what we wanted to do early and late. Scoring 21 more in the 4th would have made some say we controlled the game, but its more than just the scoreboard.
Why do people want to judge by taking out big plays? We are a big play offense and defense. It's part of the game. I haven't really understood that argument. We could have gone for 600+ without problem. Hell, if you take big plays away from every game, its not much to analyze.
