Does Dooley now gain respect?

the D still has a lot to clean up, which they will, what I liked the most was how they adjusted in the second half.

Seeing adjustments that work during halftime was refreshing. The safeties weren't picking up when the CB released the WR in cover 2 and some nickel. The good things are: 1. It's a read issue not a talent issue 2. As stated earlier, adjustments improved the situation.

Semantics. When a game isn't in doubt after the first quarter, you dominated the game. A synonym is control, and we controlled the game.

I'm damn glad the team did not think it was over after the 1st quarter

Domination?

TN offense had 524 yards , 333 passing with no interceptions , 191 yards rushing. Our backs held onto the ball.
TN defense had 4 picks. That is against a good qb.

The game was decided in the first quarter

Yes, i call that dominating.

I have always respected him & hope he is sucessful. I just question some red zone calls. For all coaches that look on here if any. J H. can out jump any defensive back we will face just saying. GBO

The game was never in doubt after midway through the first quarter. Call it whatever.

======================================
Dooley said the Vols had a hard time adjusting to Wolfpack's quick pace. The defense went into "survival mode" as players didn't even have time to look over to the sidelines for direction.
When N.C. State's Quintin Payton caught a 49-yard pass in the first quarter, there were no Vols anywhere near him. Cornerback Prentiss Waggner released Payton as if Tennessee was in a zone, but there was no safety waiting to help out behind him.

--Quoted from GoVolXtra--

We were saved from NCSU dropped passes and miscues along with a Vols defense that played more like we have played in decades past. Even then Glennon and company proved dangerous. Their defense, as CDD noted was pushing us. We couldn't even get into the end zone from one yard out during the Bray fumble. I admit when Tennessee had to it had the wolves on the run flaming torches and shotgun style.

I've said numerous times that I don't know what the future holds, but my expectations were up this year. We shall see what happens, but for that specific game, friday, I haven't seen a UT team play as fast, as hard or together as they did 2 days ago, in a long time. The swagger. The attentiveness to the sideline, the sideline demeanor, the body language when something bad happened was huge to me. If we can play with that effort every game and shore up some things, the wins will come.

:good!::good!::good!: A+ A+ A+ A+ A+

Thanks, nonconformist poster guy. I try.

I am indeed a nonconformist and proud of it.

Wait, I thought you were leaving.

Never said I was though that is your fondest wish.
What I said was I was ignoring your friend who
obviously had some beef with me and was looking to start a fight. With that being said, I now will ignore you
as well until you also grow up.
Have a nice day, child.

Shirley you must be psychic now if you are privy to my greatest wishes.

Lol. Holding your breath and sticking your fingers in your ears while saying "lalalalaIdonothearyoulalala" and I'm the child... nice.

Lighten up Francis and learn to take some ribbing.

We were up by 8 points and just turned it over going into the half. This game wasn't even over at the half.

The team responded extremely well in the second half.

The team playing an entire 60 is the very reason we controlled the game after we took a 13-7 lead. There was not a point in the rest of the game where we were in danger of the other team even tying the game, and we stepped off the gas.

Has nothing to do with it being over or not. Of course it wasn't over, but hindsight shows we were in control and didn't come close to relinquishing that control.

I think some people just want to argue semantics.

Gain? maybe... Earn? a little... One thing no one has mentioned is CDD's half time comments... That is what I respected!!! Not whinning over the horrible call and taking ownership of our inability to get the job done.

Does the domination of NCST, a good team with a very good qb and one of the best db's in the NCAA by several of the "experts" give Dooley the win that finally brings him respect of the Volnation ?

I think it was a great win. TN looks the part of being a good football team for the first time in several years.

I also think our coaching staff is a major upgrade over last years staff.

I feel good about the program again. I give credit to Coach Dooley. He has brought integrity back to TN. I hope he has major success and our coach for many years to come.

GBO .

no he either has to win one of the following 4. florida, georgia SC or bama. then he gets respect.

Dooley came in at a very difficult time in Vol history...I don't like the fact that his signature victory was a overtime victory over Vandy. If we had beaten LSU (which we did) people might cut the guy more slack. He has got to beat a team he ain't supposed to, to win everyone over...He really needs to be 3-0 after the Florida game to start winning some folks over. I like the start...he but he is still on the HOT SEAT. The team played great friday night!! We shall see!! GO VOLS!!!

One thing is for sure - the team speed is back up to par. It's where it was in 2005, IMO.

Now we have to put the talent together and start winning some games that matter.

If we finish good this year, Dooley is safe and he can start building even more depth to stay competitive over the next few years.

It's really looking up right now. It's a great time to be a VOL.

I think Dooley still needs to be more positive to the players when they go in at the half. If they play well, let them know it instead of drilling them for all the mistakes. Did anyone notice the D when they first took the field. They did not start playing with enthusiasm until NC made an error.

I think its great we're 1-0, but talk to me after the uf game. I think we'll know a little more about what we have after that game.
