Does Dooley now gain respect?

No

They wont like him because he won

They have talked so much crap, they need him to fail to save face

I don't care about saving face. I hope I'm totally wrong I want to win whoever the coach may be. It was a good game and good first step. I feel better about Dooley, but we are in chapter 1 of a 12 chapter book. Lots of twists and turns can still happen. I at least have some hope now.

This x1000.

Call me back the first of November and then we will have our answer.

That's fine, but did you watch the game and not see a different attitude?
Like I said too, we will see.
It is odd that you like Pittsburghs hire and Chryst, and he loses to youngstown state. Double standard, imo, in regards to how you reacted to a DD bad loss and wouldve reacted with a loss Friday.

I don't think he is referring to you. You have pretty much made football points, outside of your personal perception of DD, which you said probably wouldn't change.

Our team's improvement is glaringly apparent, don't think all of the former staff left on their own. CDD is a gentleman, and his hires look good so far.

I am a big supporter of Dooley... But he needs to win a SEC championship to cement his position.

That's what matters to UT.. Not just a single win but new banners to hang in the stadium.

But this is one hell of a good start.

I agree for the most part. I've been no big fan to say the least. I wouldn't say a great start, but definitely a good one. I love our style on D. Then again, I liked the Sunseri hire. I was cautiously optimistic about it, but I think he is going to be a very good one from what I saw.

It is all about winning in the SEC....Beat all the runts you want but respect is earned by winning SEC games. Don't get me wrong NC St was a nice win but so was the Cincy win last year. CDD has to win SEC games. . .that my friend is the job.

Oh now I get it. you're out to nitpick by pulling a statement out of a post and painting it to a color you prefer. Very well then, carry on. You'll have to play with yourself while doing it though.

It was a central statement in your post.

He can kick puppies in the head in his personal life as long as he wins. I probably will never be a huge fan of some of his methods, but as long as he wins I can get over it.

Does the domination of NCST, a good team with a very good qb and one of the best db's in the NCAA by several of the "experts" give Dooley the win that finally brings him respect of the Volnation ?

I think it was a great win. TN looks the part of being a good football team for the first time in several years.

I also think our coaching staff is a major upgrade over last years staff.

I feel good about the program again. I give credit to Coach Dooley. He has brought integrity back to TN. I hope he has major success and our coach for many years to come.

Domination?

The game was never in doubt after midway through the first quarter. Call it whatever.

There were a number of examples of domination in college football this weekend. Our win over NC State was a solid win, but it wasn't domination.

Semantics. When a game isn't in doubt after the first quarter, you dominated the game. A synonym is control, and we controlled the game.

It's a subjective term, dominate. The important thing for me is that I didn't add any new gray hairs, lose any vitally important hair that is quickly becoming in scarce supply (unless you want to talk back, nose, and/or ear hair), and I added no new worry lines over the game.

For me winning is much more important than saving face. Dooley should get a lot of credit for winning a game that was VERY important to his career at UT.

I think NC State's O was a great early test for the new defense. With four turnovers, the most definitive statement that I can make about the new look Vols is that we have found an SEC ready D coordinator. I say that without any hesitation whatsoever.

the D still has a lot to clean up, which they will, what I liked the most was how they adjusted in the second half.

I've been a doubter turned supporter turned realist turned..."put up or shut up" with Dooley. While this is likely his best win so far, there is still a ton of work to do--which I believe were his exact comments after the game.

This isn't anywhere close to where this team, and Dooley, need to be but its a step in the right direction. I think we have a great staff and the D played with a grit I haven't seen in a while. The East is up for grabs...we have the talent but do we have the coaching?

Only time will tell...

Wrong.

They played well and aside from the poor call on the goal line fumble, it was a well coach game too. Good game plan and execution. Something the team has lacked over the first 2 years under Dooley.

I want this team and coaching staff to perform well. And if they do, that would be great... however it won't replace what took place over the last two years... which was really bad football/coaching.

GO VOLS!!!

I think we grab some control with that fury at the end of the 1st quarter. We left the door open at the end of the half by not getting points. It was a game until late in the third. UT had control from that point.

Let's not get too excited. The same things were being said after the Cincy game last year. Good start but there's a lot of season left. Next test against Florida is crucial.

Enjoy the ride but don't overreact. They haven't won anything yet.
