Does Butch jump ship after this season if goes to SEC-CG?

In spite of our legions of the miserable among the forum-posting fan base and our boo-birds inside Neyland Stadium, Butch ain't going anywhere. He's where he wants to be, and he's where (to this point) most of us want him to be.

YES, Butch will accept the Michigan Job for $6m per year after Harbaugh is fired tomorrow!:blink:

If butch makes the SEC championship, his agent will demand a huge raise and contract extension---if not, he'll start floating rumors about other teams wanting to hire him.

I won't say entirely impossible, because you can never know quite what to expect in the world of college football, but.....

Extremely unlikely... Don't see it happening.

Butch is a smart enough guy, he knows he's got it pretty good at Tennessee and knows that there's not really an "upgrade" job. I think he also knows that any other big time program he went to (if any big time program even tried to get him) would have just as many expectations, if not more. So no escaping pressure and passionate fanbases, unless he went back to a smaller school, which I don't think happens either. IMO, now that Butch has been at Tennessee, he wouldn't want to downgrade. He's too competitive/stubborn.

Butch would not hesitate to go if a top program came open. He has seen that this fan base is not loyal to him. I don't know if a top program will open this year unless Auburn or Tx. maybe. He may wait a year to see who AD becomes. Butch is not gonna be loyal to this program though. Can't blame him.

The Vols are leading the nation or close to the top in attendance and Jones is being paid 4.11 million a season which has him inside the top 20 in salary.

Just how much more loyal should the fan base be to Jones???

If he can't handle criticism after losing games then he chose the wrong profession.

1) Butch has reached his coaching ceiling. He could never convince a better football program to let him coach them. Not even with his coach speak.

2) He will never make "SEC" money at another school.

3) He knows that the "new" generation of UT fans don't know what good football looks like and he can make them happy with 3 and 4 loss seasons for as long as he wants

4)UT will be gutted in terms of losing talent, so Butchy can go back to using the same excuses for losing that he used in year 1 and buy himself another 4 years of top dollar salary

Butch will never jump ship on UT. He'll have to be pushed overboard.

I guess he was still using Dooley's recruiting notes when he signed 6 total the next 2 seasons and ended up with guys like Dontavious Blair and Austin Sanders as well LOL

Thanks Dooley. :)

Austin Sanders was a four star that was a Dooley/Pittman commit. Every program wanted Blair, but it fits your narrative. :boredom: You know the reference is to a signing class without a single OL...don't "play" dumb. :)

Hopefully, we would float his buyout and tell them they are getting a bargain.

I think he is loyal to UT. If he had an offer he would give us a chance imo to counter.

And who exactly forced Jones to sign Sanders?

You'd think almost 4 full seasons into Jones' tenure that his acolytes here would not use the "Blame Dooley" narrative either but they still do.

Any problems with this roster are for Jones to "own" in 2016. Or are we walking back the term "own" to use the current political vernacular?

The only way I could see him leaving is if Brian Kelly gets fired at ND and they come calling. He's kinda followed BK his whole career except here. And regardless of how we feel about our school, ND just has a crazy appeal to a lot of coaches...

Sanders shut down his recruitment after committing. Alabama expressed interest and Pittman wanted to take him to Arkansas...there was no "made" involved in keeping him. You need to embrace reality and acknowledge that some players just don't work out. This isn't about "blame Dooley", it's accepting the hand he was dealt OL wise and the methods he's attempted to overcome it. He was left a one and out OL and Dooley hadn't recruited worth a damn in the interim since that first class. Look at the excuses they're hurling up down in Athens and they weren't even remotely left as bare a cupboard. He's got his recruits there presently and is even going to graduate the first one in Wiesman...the 3 star who made 2nd team All-SEC last season? Been "owning it" this season...maybe give em til the end of the year for the final grade?

If he's not loyal to the program, screw him.....by by
