Does Butch jump ship after this season if goes to SEC-CG?

He was interim last year and this was his first hired season...two losses got em frantic but beating the number 4 team pretty handily is better than any AD endorsement. He ain't going anywhere. :)

This is true.

I say yes if decent offer. Here's why:
1) 2017 will likely be a step back. Other than a rs freshman QB and Jennings, no superstars.(so far none in current recruiting class)
2) SEC too competitive. Would be a better fit in ACC with only two really powerful teams.
3) No AD at UT.
4) Expectations too high and not appreciated at UT if you believe the rumors.
5) Burning red shirts like Calloway's doesn't look like someone planning for 4 more years.

"Non-sense"

This says a lot. Our guy is so bad that no one else wants him.

That never stopped Fulmer and his agent from negotiating raises. Anyone remember the Carolina Panthers rumors that could only be substantiated by Fulmer's agent?

I know you are getting a lot of heat and mocking here but as a realist I can totally see that happening. Yes the Fan base looks and sees that Butch has failed to bring Championships etc but a program needed new coach will look at following:
'He took over a dumpster fire in one of the toughest conference, out recruited competitors and now has his team in Top 25, SEC CG and ready to take next step."

I am a program needing upgrade at coaching and see that we don't have to play Alabama every year, Butch is an enticing candidate to take me to 10-11 wins against a relatively weaker schedule. Butch may not be Saban or Urban Meyer, but he is a 10 type coach. Look at Mark Ritch.

Not in the top 25 as of your post.

Do you really think LSU would even think about our coach for there job, no way they will keep one of there own if there coach win's out the job is his he will get a new OC and give big bad bama a run for there money in the west, there talent level is just a little behind bama and there player's play there azz of for him, but if he did leave i wonder what big bad upcoming non power football coach would come here i guess we could get another DD.:thud:

Butch is 0-8 against the SEC West. Do you really think LSU would be interested?

Like many have asked. Where would he go? I get the uncertainty at AD. But for the most part that will probably be filled with someone already comfortable with UT's recent history. David Blackburn or Phil Fulmer. Both men know what Jones inherited and has overcome to this point. Also Jones isn't taking a pay cut to go elsewhere with smaller microscope. If anything he stays long enough that if results don't add up he gets bought out.

I say Butch is already looking for another job. One that does not have so much pressure has this one does. He feels he's not appreciated by the fans. This a Martin situation all over again. It's doesn't bother me if he leaves. I don't think he's cut out for this conference. JMO!!!!!

Funny you mentioned the ACC OP, a rumor from a source for me in the AD hinted to me that a couple of ACC schools reached out. No clue the validity or the teams.

EDIT: if they did, not saying they did, I'm guessing it'd be NC St, GA Tech, or BC.

He will be here as long as he wants. Or until he quits recruiting. He is going to be successful here.

Are you writing your own prescriptions?

Seriously. I have heard more believable reasoning come from meth heads.

Assuming the previous number 4 team is really that good. That conference seems down this year.

1. If he chooses to leave after this season and cites fan support and the administration as reasons, we would be screwed. Other coaches would be worried coming here where the coach is not appreciated after the changes that have taken place less than four years.

Some folks under estimate the impact that a situation like this would have.
