Monty isn't even USC's DC. He is basically just there to hang out and advise if asked.
His best days of coaching, which were fantastic, are long gone.
Even if this were true and Monte isn't actively 'coaching', he is an invaluable resource and defensive SME at minimum. People want to talk trash about Monte's abilities or inabilites as a coach today but fail to look at 1. the age and experience of the players in his system. 2. the time the players have had to spend learning his system. 3. how poorly USC's defense was prior to his arrival. So whether he is truly 'coordinating' efforts like most managers do in the business world or whether he is hands on and 'coaching' or micro managing, there's no disputing that he is/has and always will be a good coach. Point. Blank. Period.
