Even if this were true and Monte isn't actively 'coaching', he is an invaluable resource and defensive SME at minimum. People want to talk trash about Monte's abilities or inabilites as a coach today but fail to look at 1. the age and experience of the players in his system. 2. the time the players have had to spend learning his system. 3. how poorly USC's defense was prior to his arrival. So whether he is truly 'coordinating' efforts like most managers do in the business world or whether he is hands on and 'coaching' or micro managing, there's no disputing that he is/has and always will be a good coach. Point. Blank. Period.

Do you even realize you're asking UT fans which coaching staff they'd rather coach their offspring--the current staff or the staff that torched Knoxville on their way to SoCal?

EB was moved to safety as soon as he started at UT. He came out of HS as a CB. He was moved there because he was the best we had at the time.

EB would have been drafted in the first 10 picks regardless of Monte or if he played CB or S.

I think we already knew he could play run support he just proved it, again I think EB would have been picked just as high without MK, IMO

how did you know that he could do it almost full time? He was used much differently by the 2 staffs

Gonna join the unpopular crowd here. Monte still hasn't proven that he can coach D at the college level. He has yet to shut down a good offense...in any form.

I respect MK a lot. He has done a hell of a lot to shape what modern defensive strategy looks like, but I have to agree with you.

It's not even an opinion. It's a fact. When you give up 37 first downs and 554 yards to Arizona , you have a problem.

Because he was the best tackler on the team his Freshman and Sophomore year and showed at times that he coild support the run, like I said he just proved he could do it on a reagular basis his Junior year.

Monty python is just as responsible for berry's success. Being used as a lb didn't help him any
