Disappointing loss, but fan reactions are embarrassing

I know Clemson is glad they did not melt down the second year of Dabo. Check out what he inherited, a 9 win season first year then to 6 wins the second.

Go ahead, tell me which one of these losses is on par with losing to a 2-10 Georgia State in your home opener in year 2.

There you go using common sense and you know that's not allowed here!!!!

If this can base isn't firing coaches or calling for firings then they aren't happy!! Yeah losing suks but yesterday was embarrassing I get it, but ya know sometimes you get what you deserve and this fan base needs to realize this isn't the glory days of the '90's and we've heard nothing but complaining since then. They complain and get what they want then they complain some more and want something different!!

Patience is virtue and we Volunteers have none. This is why we don't n can't have nice things. So yeah let's go ahead and fire the whole staff and start over and see where that gets us.

ROFL.....you can straight up GTFO with that bullstuff.

Patience? Did you become a fan in 2017?

Sure, we should have not lost to Ga State, but there is no excuse for the complete melt down by Tennessee fans. Support the team and staff as they both grow and improve. It starts with good recruiting classes and building depth which Pruitt is doing. I was disappointed with Saturday’s outcome but I am a graduate and VFL and expect this team to improve.

So I should support them as/while/after one of the worst losses in program history? A loss ranked 4th worse in D1 over the past decade.

We should not over react, but instead “be supportive” when almost everyone shows up unprepared, unmotivated, and certainly look unimproved?

Georgia State pushes Tennessee around, and drove the ball down their throat........on the way to rushing over 200 yards..........GA ST (a 2 win Sun Belt team).

Other than a fan injured someone or committed some violent crime.......how can any one “overreact”?

I will always pull for my Vols and yes, I have a degree from UT.

However, there has been zero improvement since last year. At the presser, Pruitt claims they didn’t know where to line up and ran left on plays they should have ran right. If you, as a D1 coach, field a team that cannot execute the plays (not just execute them well, but literally cannot execute them at all), that is on you. As a result, the kids play with little or no heart and that is unacceptable.

We just got back from Montana and the Little Bighorn Battlefield. Even under horrendous odds, knowing defeat was imminent, with an opposition who changed their playbook and fought with all they had, with poorly trained recruits, and captains who were either drunk or hated him badly, Custer lead his men. These coaches watched detached from the sidelines. I have every right to be upset and voice my opinion.

Nice dodge. Go ahead, tell me which one of those losses is on par with losing to Georgia State in your home opener.

No I was agreeing with you. I'm saying the comparisons to Dabo are stupid because the scenario isn't even close. Even if Clemson did go 6-6 his second year, he won the division his first year so it's not like he hadn't built up some clout. Pruitt went 5-7 his first year, so it's even worse he just laid an egg against a bad Sun Belt team at home to open the season.

I am embarrassed too. Even after losing to a 25 point dog in the opener we still have fans showing up to carry water for the coaches.

I said during the game that even the most extreme pumpers couldn't try to defend this; boy was I wrong. Although I'm pretty sure some are just doing it to be "that guy".

My bad, I read that incorrectly.

Grow and improve? What in that crapfest we saw last night points to “grow and improve”?

Just love you “voice of reason” types. Being spanked and dominated by GA FREAKING STATE is about as bad as it gets. We didn’t lose on some freak play we got CURB STOMPED in a tuneup game.

What you and every other self-respecting Volfan SHOULD be asking for this morning is “where’s the accountability among our starting QB who’s supposed to be the leader of this team and our coaching staff for the WORST LOSS in program history?”

Yeah some are. Some are trolls. Some are hired posters that all coaches and universities employ now. And sadly I think there are a few that dumb.

I'd have more patience and respect with those "pumpers" if they just said "We sucked yesterday and it looks bad but I'm going to keep supporting and expect us to get better". I think that's a totally fair and reasonable position.

But to say crap like we'll be fine and we'll end up 9-3 and nobody will care we lost to GSU....just shut up.

Find a local small college team or high school team to watch if you need a fix for some football.... go fishing... its almost hunting season.... take the kids/wife/dog to a park... go camping...take a hike. Luckily TN is a beautiful state and fall is a perfect time to enjoy it, personally I'm done apathy has truly set in. If you don't vote with your wallet this will never change. This isn't going to end well for Pruitt or the apologists this sadly has all been played out before, yesterday was just taking off the bandage and finally looking at the scars.

While I will never stop bleeding orange, I will continue to love Tennessee Athletics and continue to pray for constant success. At some point though the fans who pay for the stadium upgrades, the amazing facilities we have and the countless hours spent at games or watching games....We deserve better than these last 15 years.

So while maybe you are ok with being mediocre, many people who love the Vols just as much as you, just want a team that's capable of beating Georgia State and can compete in the SEC with teams like UGA, UF and Bama. ThIs is something that is expected at Tennessee. No matter what happens though, I'm orange all the way but dont bash others because they're tired of losing. They're passionate just like you and I are.

I find it hard to believe we just didn't have the depth to beat one of the worst teams in a little brother conference.

This want a depth issue. It was a coaching/preparedness/effort issue. There is no excuse and the meltdown is deserved. This isn't even a respectable Appy St type team. This was the new low for Tennessee, never a single day been this bad. They have a chance to salvage a season but this staff needs to get it together. This group didn't come to play and wanyt prepared.

It’s hard to expect anything else after the hype of fall camp. They got beat by a 2-10 Sun Belt team. That’s inexcusable for anyone. Especially after beating Auburn and Ky last year.

GO VOLS!!!

Let's face facts shall we?

Dooley took UT Football and broke both of its kneecaps.

Butch came in, inflicted multiple stab wounds and put the program in ICU.

Yesterday Pruitt came into the room and put a bullet in the program's brain.

There is no excuse for this. It was incompetence on a gargantuan scale.

You don't "fix" something like this. You burn it down. Bulldoze the ruins. Salt the earth underneath. Come back in a generation and try again.

Only using slight hyperbole here...but it is worse than I have ever seen it. And I go back a ways.
